    Mapping

I found Brian R's post and tutorials found on the IBA discussion forum to be very informative on routing. I know it's focused on rally type routing, but can be applied by those of us that don't do rallies also. I don't like relying on the GPS to handle an entire route. Seems like I'm getting...

What did you do to your FJR today?

Agree, and I installed those works of art long ago. I was referring to the little nipples (there, I said nipples) that cover the vacuum ports used for TBS.

What did you do to your FJR today?

Replaced spark plugs and noticed cracks in all 4 vacuum caps. They were cheapies from autozone. Looks like something to change annually maybe? Some info here: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/143379-throttle-body-caps-where-can-i-get-better-caps/

What did you do to your FJR today?

Changed front fork oil. Cleaned front calipers and pads, lubed pins with anti-sieze.

What did you do to your FJR today?

Other than a spring puller? Maybe ask someone else to do it.

    Florida To Iowa (And Back)

Tony, you make it sound so easy. And please don't let anyone discourage you from posting your adventures here. Most people don't understand endurance challenges. Some people run marathons for fun, while others sit on a couch and watch Wheel of Fortune for fun. Different strokes.... I was out...

How do you use your Sena ?

I'm staying with my old flip phone because my family plan includes luddites that refuse the expense and learning curve required of smart phone plans. But I acquired a Samsung Galaxy S2 for free from someone that no longer needed it. So I pair the flip phone to the Sena SMH10 in phone only mode...

Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas: April 13

Once again, the Moto3 race was the best to watch. Those kids are crazy. I'm wondering if the rules changes for the big bikes that were supposed to make racing more competitive are backfiring.

    SS1K 4/6/14

Great ride Allen! For the two of you to tough that one out is remarkable. Great memories. I'm also thinking you'll do it again, but with better weather and on that red one.

    2014 Moonshine Lunch Run

Thanks guys, but like I told my wife, "I'll be sitting on my *** for 17 hours or so, how hard can that be?" She agreed with something like "You've certainly done that before!". After that bit of motivation, I actually did some training over the winter. Being 66 years of age you can't take...

    2014 Moonshine Lunch Run

Completed the Moonshine Curt Gran Memorial SS1K Wednesday night at 9:21 pm CDT. Temperature at start, 03:45 CDT, was 35F, 50's and 60's most of the day and evening. First time I have ever used heated gear, very nice. Learned a few things: 1. Food. Cereal bars are not food! Not sure what they...

    I hate Migraines

Same for me, I get the aura, as they call it, but no pain at all. It takes about 20 minutes for my vision to clear and then all is well. Definitely triggered by bright light.

Adding Cigarette Outlet to Gen 1 Glovebox

I've used these a couple times and had good luck. Comes with a 15 amp fuse, and SAE connectors if you want to break the connection for battery charger or whatever. Cheap too! https://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/54050/i/bikemaster-12-volt-power-adapter-with-mount?WT.ac=SLIsearch

How much income do you need to retire?

Medicare's not free. They take a chunk out of your SS to pay for it and that chunk keeps getting bigger the older you get. You'll also need to purchase Medicare supplemental insurance (plan F covers just about everything) to cover what Medicare doesn't pay. And, of course, you have those pesky...

    Albuquerque,NM. or Tucson, AZ

We lived in Tucson for 2 years, beautiful winters, unbearable summers. The schools suck. Snakes, scorpions and bees are not your friends. Albuquerque would definitely be the choice for me.

Request for Info from Owner's Manuals (Gen 2)

I do see an API label in my service manual (for years 2009-2011), that shows 10W40 in it, but it appears the purpose of that graphic is to show what NOT to use. Anyway, more amusing than anything else. I see no problem with using 10W40 and that's what I currently have in my FJR and what I'll...

Request for Info from Owner's Manuals (Gen 2)

I have a 2010 FJR, and I can't find anywhere in the owners manual where it specifies 10W40. My manual only shows 20W40 or 20W50. The service manual only specifies 20W50. It seems like whoever wrote these manuals finally got their act together regarding appropriate viscosity for a wider range of...

Need GPX file from Open Road Journey put on Garmin

On my nuvi 750, GPX files must be placed in the Garmin\GPX directory to be seen as a route.

    Picked up a Spot2

I saw the Spot2 being advertised online at Best Buy for $69.99, which I thought was a pretty good price. So I checked availability at local stores and found 3 that had them in stock. A trip to the closest Best Buy revealed an even better closeout price of $39.99. I know this model had some...
