FJR not what is cracked up to be

I haven't had a single problem with my '05. Edit: Only complaint so far is that my wife would like a better seat. No biggie, I'll get a custom seat eventually.

    Nobody posts rides in SoCal

Yeah, that's a regular ride I do all the time, basically my back yard. I live pretty close to Alpine in El Cajon and normally head out through Ramona on the 67, then to Santa Ysabel, Mesa Grande, pass Lake Henshawup to Palomar, back down through Julian, catch the Sunrise Highway through Pine...

    Carrying Pillion on the FJR

It's noticeable when I take my wife with me, but it's not bad at all, just different. I really enjoy having her ride with me and she’s actually building up her tolerance and able to go on some longer rides with me. She’s always had a bad back so I only take her with me on local rides.

FJR + short inseam + uneven pavement = oh crap...

I'm in the same boat and actually dropped the bike once a few months back trying to get it into a better position so my wife could get on and put my right foot down in a 3" pothole. I should have stayed where I was to start with. :glare:

    Nobody posts rides in SoCal

Man, I've been so busy between work and school that I haven't been able to get out like I used to. But luckily my schedule is easing up some. Love to do some rides with you guys.

    San Diego/Orange County people

Scripps Poway is a great road. One of my favorite local rides is heading up to Idyllwild for breakfast or lunch. This might be a good ride to start with. Possible meeting spot around the 15/79 in Temecula, sound ok?

    San Diego/Orange County people

I would like to start doing some group rides again on the weekends. Starting points could be anywhere in either county and destinations can vary. Pretty much ride from to 2 to 5 hours each way and we can cover most of SoCal. Anyway, if you live in Orange or San Diego County and would be...

Notebook computer case for FJR side bag(s)

I'm another that uses a backpack. I have two Dell Insperion laptops and each has a backpack. The older one had a 15" screen and in now my daughter's computer. The new dell has a 17" screen and a slightly bigger backpack. Here's the new backpack...

Who Commutes on the FJR Daily?

I've only been riding the FJR to work once or twice a week lately due to going to school or golfing right after work. Daily commute is 40 miles and I tend to ride it in more during the winter and summer recess.

    Tankbags

I use a Frank Thomas and it works great, lots of room. https://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1=2&amp...item=FTL_CAR001

    I put her to bed.

It's 98 in El Cajon today. Still wearing my mesh jacket most of the time.

    XJR-1300

Pretty sweet old school concept. I wouldn't mine having one as a 2nd or 3rd bike.

    Rear-ended

I'm glad you're ok man. That's some scary stuff right there.

New Shoei Multitech flip up Anyone seen/bought one

I used the Shoei Syncrotech flip up for about a year and I just recently replaced it with a RF1000. I just didn't use the flip up on the Syncrotech and wanted a Snell approved full face that was quite. I'm very happy with the RF1000.

Yamaha Top Case vs. Givi Top Case

I bought the Yamaha Top Case, bracket and backrest with the bike at the dealer cost, it was like $400 or something. Looks and works good. The things I like about the Givi are rack on the top and no holes to drill.

    The Ultimate FJR HEAT Fix!!

FJR heat is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Living in San Diego and riding along the coast or in the local mountains up around the 4500 to 6500’ range makes the heat a plus. Honestly, on the hottest day of the summer the heat only becomes an issue when stopped at a light or stuck in very...

Where are you at mileage wise?

I'm at 7600 on my '05 and I got it late last summer, like August 23 or something. I haven't been riding it nearly as much as I would like but that's mainly due to working full time and going to school nearly full time. I've also been riding a friend’s Harley VRod and another friend’s R6 this...
