    She's finally Home

DonRed7, congrats on your new baby. You will enjoy this ride like no other. Great for rolling off the red sand island and putting some serious KMs on. In fact think about the Canadian Rally in Ontario. Should be a blast. Ride safe, John out here on the left coast.

    Riding Twisties on New 06

Totally agree with the oil comment. Once you have that puppy up to 6000 miles drop some synth in and the difference should be just as profound as on your old Connie. I would still get the dealers best riding mechanic to experience it, and see what they say.

    Finally got 100,000 Milles!

Congrats on the 100K Toolman, just remember it's the journey not the destination. Hell, you know that probably better than most. Enjoy another safe ride, one day at a time.

Difference between Cali and none Cali FJR

I'd bet Washington State bikes are faster and smoother than lean running Cali bikes, but Canadian bikes are faster than either. And it has nothing to do with our odometers being in kilometers.

    FJR ABS

My experience with the FJR's abs allowed steerage while under full braking as I was about to plough into a panel truck. The abs front and rear were activated and as I approached the ultimate I looked to a gap to the right, pushed the right bar and found the 'out'. I was shedding speed rapidly...

    Tank Pad

++ mag-knight. Does what is supposed to do, without adding weight. Looks great too, did mine in carbon fibre pattern.

dead hands, burning buns 06 FJR

So, now you have just about everything you need for comfort. If you are riding in jeans, the seams will be doing a number on you especially once it gets warm out. So remember to wear non-seamed underwear. My preferrence is UnderArmour Heat. Fits snug and wicks perspiration away from your...

    Woopsie.....

Uh, Warchild my man. Which way were you going around that roundabout? All of them up here in the Great White North go counter clock, or were you turning right to get out of it? I am one of those visual guys, just need to know. Ride safe my man.

    Yamaha Logos

One should also know that the sound board technology that Yamaha developed for their piano frames, that affords great strength and light weight cast aluminum, is the same technology that is used for these wonderfully light and stiff frames that we enjoy on our bikes today. And the music of an...

    Quirky cornering.

++ what Madmike has said. Tire pressure makes a huge difference in handling on the FJR, it's cold out there, check and see where you are there. It would be good to know. Make sure your dampening adjustments are the same. If some dork has played with one of them that could explain the...

Oil, snake oil, & break in

Andrew, how long are you planning on keeping your FJR? Might just want to try riding it the way you are going to ride it for a day or two. Do the oil change, use a stock filter and Yamaha Oil as recommended by Yamaha. Nice for those warranty questions they would ask you if you ever have a...

    Best Carbon Fiber Tank Pad

++ on Magknight great product mine is still rock solid after 3 and a half years. I got the carbon fibre look. Real carbon fibre is unecessary IMHO.

    Tire Pressure

IF you are new to the FJR try running 38 in the front, then 42 and see what feels best to you, then do the same in the rear. This is not rocket science dude. But monitoring your tirepressure is a royal pain in the anus, so get one of these babies...

    2007 Canadian Rally

Do any of you guys remember Torch, the formidible technical ace in the FJR community back a few years? Well he held the first TWO FJR rallies in Ontario and HUNTSVILLE is his backyard. I met him a few years ago on a trans Canada jaunt. Hope you all get to meet him as I have posted email to...

2008 FJR1300 - Dear Yamaha, this is what we want.

Sounds to me that some of you guys are ready for a Goldwing. Some want to weigh her down more, and others want it lighter. Maybe Yamaha should just put some nice bags on the FZ1 and go back to making the '04 model which IMHO is perfect.

    Good News

Mark, great news bud. Was it the fact you had insured for $22K or what? Glad it worked out the way it should have. Now what do you think of the Concours 14?? I know you're a Y man, and that is cool, but what did you think of the new Connie?. If you're not going there, I'd be looking for a...

Gen I vs Gen II Comparison

:clapping:    Cheddar?? Back to the 'old cheese' thread. If you haven't moved up to that synthetic cheese in a tube you are not yet getting your full bang for your buck in the braking department. And as far as ham goes, **** we have a whole forum of them here. Now, time...

Speeding Tickets, your best excuses that have worked

With a little help from Google here is what I found: Anyone "Babysitter called … kid’s throwing up" "Dog’s at pound … about to be zapped" "Contact lens fell out … hurrying to find safe place to stop and put it back in" Asthma attack … show empty inhaler "Late to funeral to read eulogy"...
