    Riding in extreme heat

Thanks for the info! Now I know I'm not crazy. When I rode out to Ca, I was wearing leather front/poly back Hareley riding pants, and my heavy leather Fox Creek jacket. Yeah, I wore Harley stuff on the FJR. <G> Up to about 95F riding in Utah and Nevada, I was quite comfortable with my...

    Tourer

What everybody said. Easiest...grip puppies.... I was gripping way too hard since I was used to fatter Harley grips. Master Yoda riding position. Sit on your legs, not your butt. Huge improvement. Relax your elbows. Gel gloves help too. I didn't ride much for over a year, last month I took a...

    A motorcylist is dead...

Those buggies have to have taillights on them if they're out at night ( at least when I still lived in the area).... no way to see a black buggy at night. You just have to drive slow in Amish country.... and there are lots of hills with trees and brush close to the road, and blind curves around...

Passing other vehicles on two lane roads

Or a truck full of cages of chicken on their way to market... Only good thing is when some of the cages fall of.... free chicken... all ya gotta do is catch them....<BG> mary

    Victory Vision ride

A 2 cyl is half of a 4 cyl bike....<G> anyway, I like riding the 8Ball, but if I was going to get another cruiser, I'd get the low Vegas. however, since I've ridden the FJR, I've now come to my senses and am looking for a smaller version. Triumph Sprint ST or Suzuki GSX650F with...

    tent, sleeping bags, air mattresses

Just for kicks, check out the ultralite hiking stuff.... way overboard for bikes, but some ideas could be adapted.... totally different mindset, tho.... I bought the book and the DVD, very interesting... https://www.gossamergear.com/cgi-bin/gossam...en_up_book.html and links on...

The Dragon ,The Snake and New Roadsmart tires

No, I'm not a troll. I don't have an FJR anymore either, but like this forum because there's a ton of good info here. The FJR was too big for me so I sold it. In 2004 I rode with my friends from Hawaii (we were on rented Harleys, I had a Heritage) from Vegas, over the Hoover Dam, to breakfast...

    60% Chance Of Rain Today

That's not stupid, that's being smart. Rain is one thing, a frogsoaker is another. The FJR handles great in the rain.... Mary

The Dragon ,The Snake and New Roadsmart tires

Question... have any of you guys ridden both the Dragon and Old Route 66 from Kingman to Oatman, Az ? I was just wondering how they compared.... Thanks Mary

    Freaking Hot

My son and I were in Needles last year in August. Nice that time I was in a cage with A/C! Now, my question is.... why would anyone live there? There's more out on some of those two lane farm to market roads (don't know what they call them there) than there is in Needles! But I did ride thru...

Planning a long ride with the wife and need your help...

Uhhh.... yeah.... HOW MANY days has she ridden in a row for how many hours? It can get kinda boring back there even if she's into taking pics.... even with a comfy seat. Why not do about half of the trip now at a relaxed pace... meaning if either of you see something, you have time to stop...

    Alarms?

Yup...best idea... A 5X8 OR EVEN A 5X10, and there's tons of them around. Even jacket and helmet. I would suggested getting one with good security, then if something does happen, your insurance co wont' argue. Mary

    Impressed, and dissapointed

Typical squid. You can also wheelie a GW or Valk if you're talented enuf, I've seen it, that's impressive. But the place, time and the rest... invincible kid...until something happens. My brother was like that... till he hit the water wrong diving into the swimming pool.... 37 years ago. He's...

So I watched my wife take off today

Way cool! Now go trade the SV.... I'm 5'6" but short legs, and not the strength I used to have.... I'm old and I'm way jealous~! :cray: Oh industrial hairdryer...get some forward pegs, dang. forgot what they're called here.... You can put your feet out in the happy air.....way cooler Have...

    Going There

Awesome! May I blatantly steal your post? I need to reread it once in a while. Going There is wonderful. Being There is also terrific. Getting back home is best of all. It's the coming to the end of the ride that sucks. Maybe those folks that live fulltime in RV's know something! Mary

New bike and can't ride it!

What the other guys said. When I bough my 02 Jeep new , it took over a month to get the loan. Temp registration and insurance card. No biggie. I put over 1000 miles on it before I got any other paprerwork. After all, if you finance a vehicle you don't get the title until it's paid for. So...

Passing other vehicles on two lane roads

Uh.... yeah, I had the same thot. Personally, I think it's more dangerous in a cage passing another vehicle.... the acceleration is so much slower than almost any bike! Even my Harley! I just make SURE I can see far enuf ahead, otherwise I wait. and no passing on double yellow lines... I don't...
