I've noticed an odd situation with the shifting on my '05. If I'm wearing soft boots....no re-inforced toe....my shifts aren't as smooth as when I'm wearing steel-toed boots. Obviously, the re-inforced toe is providing for a more direct application of force ( no flex as I hit the shift lever )...
The Subaru WRX STi has a 2.5 liter boxer 4. Extremely smooth and puts out an advertised 300 HP at the crank.....all of them I've seen dynoed ( many ) put out around 240 to 245 HP at the wheels ( AWD ). I've got the same engine block in a Forester model that we've now got up to 338 HP at the...
I don't know of any really good rides around the Savannah area. It is a town I love to visit ( more great restaurants that the law allows ) as it offers a lot to do. The town is full of significant art galleries and antique shops. The roads around it, however, lack any excitement. About the best...
There's not many " must see " roads in the southern half of Florida ( and not a whole hell of a lot of them in North Flotida either ). The above referenced route from Orlando to Key West is about as good as you'll do to miss the major slab. I don't know when you plan to go but wait as long as...
The leaves are in peak color up in the " high Country ".......Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, etc. Nobody expected such a brilliant display because of the extended draught the area went through this summer ( and is still going through ). The colors this past week were as stunning as any I've...
Could well have been me. Rode the BRP from Boone to Cherokee and back. I saw more FJRs during this mountain ride than ever before.....a total of seven. Some of them were over in the Damascus, VA area. Couldn't have been better riding weather.
While I have an '05 model and have never had any of this surging BS, I have followed this situation with great interest....primarily to see how Yamaha would deal with it, and of course hoping for some quick relief for fellow FJR owners.
Yamaha may have responded as soon as they could have...
The damage to the side bag leads me to believe that something hit it to knock the bike over. I've seen, in person or in pictures, many bikes that fell over and none had bag damage like that.....scratches and all for sure, but not quite like that.
LOL. I wish that were so. I have business interests in the area. Until recently, I had a mountain house in Boone fo 20 some odd years. I sold it and am having a new home built in Mountain City. I spend about 4 months each year....spread throughout the year.....riding my bike in that area. When...
I probably spend as much time in the Shady Valley area as anyone I know of. There has been a huge increase of late in the number of bikers flocking to ride the " Snake ". As expected, the numbers are largest over the weekend. It was inevitable that the popularity of the area would grow as word...
Pitinstructor.....
See my post right above yours. Stock length clutch and brake lines will probably be too short for stacking. I added two inches to the new lines and it works perfectly.
Angus....
I had steel mesh brake and clutch line installed. When I ordered them, I had them made two inches longer than stock in the event I stacked risers. I did end up stacking them so I have plenty of length in the lines. I doubt stock length would acommodate stacking.
That gravel stuff is the worst. Two years ago, my wife and I hit a patch of " pea " gravel ( couldn't even see the **** ) and busted our *** good. Ever since, I've been absolutely paranoid about the stuff. I have to admit, for me, that that experience has taken some of the fun out of roaring...
Hey ceddec...
Since you suffer from this, like myself, the correct medical term for the nerve situation is sciatica. Most people, when talking about it, simply call it the sciatic nerve. There's no joy in Mudville when it flares up, is there?
Ever since L4 back surgery at the young age of 24, I've walked a real tightrope, trying to avoid those things that can cause a reoccurance of the pain and misery that lurks. The last bad episode I had required the use of that therapy that stretches the spine ( think of the " Rack " they used in...
Man, I share your dismay. Last year, I explored the possibility of repainting my '05. I talked to several local guys who have a good reputation for doing quality work. I got quoted prices from $2600 to $3800.....single color ( very expensive paint ) with me doing the disassembly and re-assembly...
Hey BobbyBlue....I haven't gone anywhere...been here the whole time.
I just did the colonoscopy thing...did the pill routine. HOLY MOSES. I thought I was going to crap myself to death. Didn't know a human could hold so much ****. The procedure wasn't all that bad....they put you in a sort of...
When you come to a reluctant road sensor at a red light, extend your center stand several times. Works all the time for me, even when trying the kickstand first doesn't work. Must be the extra metal in the center stand that's doing the trick.
