Got a ticket on the FJR this morning that I was glad for.

I moved to Texas ( Austin ) for a couple of years quite some time ago. I moved there from Florida to get a business going and took one of my dirt bikes with me. I used to ride it a lot in a huge wooded area not far from the house. Coming back to the house one day. I first cruised through the...

Test Ride of the Polaris Can Am Spyder

Hey kansas transit... I don't know that I was too conscious about sitting real low on the thing. It certainly felt ( and is ) low in comparison to the FJR and it's possible that it would fall below some peoples' sight line....particularly those in high trucks and SUVs. I just didn't find it to...

Prayers for MadMike2 to heal up quickly

Hey Mike, I'm sure sorry to hear of your misfortune. Take all the pain medicine they'll let you have and I hope you heal quickly.

Ride Plan for Aug,31 to Sept, 3 or 4th

That stretch from Marion to Tazewell on Rt. 16 is truly exceptional. If I'm anywhere near the place, and I am a lot, I make a point of getting that ride in the day's itinerary. It ranks easily in my top ten rides.

    Natchez Trace

I had always wanted to ride the " Trace " from one end to the other. Finally did it last year and was totally disappointed. Perhaps I was thinking it would be more like the BRP. It was not. I started at the southern end ( Natchez ...what a neat little town ) and rode it all the way north...

    Sunday ride to Daytona-Anyone?

I'll keep in touch with this thread and ride down with Matt if it comes together.

Test Ride of the Polaris Can Am Spyder

I got to put about 30 minutes on this machine today....enough exposure to draw some conclusions as to it's suitability for me. I'll cut right to the chase. Overall, I consider this thing to be an interesting toy. If your entertainment budget is sufficient, this might be something you would add...

    Motorcycle Jeans

I have several pairs of the Diamond Gusset jeans and I am completely satisfied with them. The gusset fitting makes all the difference in the world as far as comfort goes....at least in my case. Mine have the Kevlar material in key places and , in our FL heat, they do tend to get a little warm...

    Deal's Gap needs your help!

rtsr1/fjr.... I'm sorry, but I don't remember telling your *** anything. A narrow-minded response like that speaks to the larger issue in a defining way.

    Deal's Gap needs your help!

Hey Inlaw1... I don't know how much time you've spent at the Dragon, but I suspect it hasn't been a lot. In my experience, probably somewhere in excess of 80% of the bikers there are riding dangerously.....going too fast for the road, or making stupid passes, etc., etc. Even some otherwise...

Glad I've already done the Gap

I spend a lot of time riding the TN, NC, VA, WV mountains. Why anyone bothers to go anywhere near the Dragon is a mystery to me. That place became a health hazard a long time ago. There are MANY, MANY roads in that region that are far superior to the Dragon and that don't present the danger it...

    Deal's Gap needs your help!

I'm for the authorities doing whatever they have to do to rein in the idiots and asshats that plague the Dragon. The situation there has been out of control for some time now and drastic action is called for if it is ever to return to the fun it used to be. It's too bad that the average good Joe...

    Skyway's Windshield Spacers

I wrote a glowing post on these spacers when I first put them on my '05 with the VStream shield. They made a good thing even better....you can't ask for any more than that.

    C14 and FJR comparison

Slightly off subject....but still in the spirit of this discussion... I once had a '77 Ferrari 308 GTB. A major service was coming up at 24,000 miles. To get to the plugs and all else they had to do required an engine drop. The dealer quoted me a charge 0f $2350.00, with more charges that could...

Where can a Pontiac beat 9 Porches and 4 Corvettes?

Hey kansas transit.... It's funny that you mentioned the unlikelihood of finding a '66 Cobra on a dealers lot. I'm sure there were not many. However, when I bought my '67 'Vette, I had a shot at one that was sitting in the showroom at Southside Ford in Jacksonville, FL. It was a black 427. I...

What Camera Do You Take on a Ride?

For cycling, and other uses where a smaller camera is desired, I use my wife's Cannon G7. 10 pixels. image stabilization, and many other neat features. Not cheap at around $700.00, but a terrific camera. For my more serious work, i.e. where an SLR type camera is indicated, I'm into the real...

Where can a Pontiac beat 9 Porches and 4 Corvettes?

After my experiences with the '64 GTO ( see previous post ) my next performance car, for the street, was the '67 Corvette 427/435 roadster. Beautiful car...green with a white stinger stripe, side pipes.....the works. However, being my only streetable car at the time, it was less than desirable...

    Exhaust Guards or not

I don't much like the looks of any of those quard pieces. If you do get something on the pipes, the very best stuff I've seen to remove it is oven cleaner. Works like a charm with practically no effort required.
