    Scary Metzlers

Those Metzlers look scary, for sure. I've got to agree with dcarver....The Avon Storms are the best tire I've had on my FJR.

Looking for rides at the Hoot

    1. Take US 221 from Linville, NC up past Grandfather mountain and on to Blowing Rock, NC. It's 22 miles of pure bliss....countless turns. 2. Anywhere on the BRP is heaven to me. 3. A real sleeper, and not well known, is #194 going west from just north of Boone, NC off of US 321 / 421 and...

Contacting Yamaha about 07 Clutch issues

Hey bramfrank.... I appreciate your comments. As a dyed-in-the-wool Yamaha man ( raced them for years, been street riding them a long time too ) I'm not about to jump ship on them without some serious reason to do so. I do love my FJR. It's without doubt the best overall bike for the street...

Contacting Yamaha about 07 Clutch issues

Man, I sure hope you guys can get some rapid and successful resolution to your problems. When I hear about all these problems with the '06 and '07 models ( clutch issues, surging, throttle control problems, etc. ), I'm damn glad I have an '05. I mean some of these problems are big-time safety...

Want to escape back pain by buying FJR

I, too, am a long time sufferer of protracted back pain.....including surgery at the 4th lumbar. My crusier bikes all had, or induced, a riding position that tended to agrivate the problem. One, of the many, reasons I switched to the FJR was the hope that the mandated riding position would be a...

    Sky High this morning

Good for you, guy. It takes a lot of discipline, understanding, and sacrifice to give up riding...as you did... and that makes it all the more sweeter when the pendulum swings in the other direction. I hope you really enjoy your new bike.....I'm sure you will.

    Philly to Cherohala

Looks like a great ride. I've ridden the eastern route from Front Royal to Cherokee more times than I can remember. Caught the lower part of the western route a few times...don't have much experience on the top half of the western route. A few observations: 1. The BRP usually has less traffic...

    Craftsman Torque Wrench

I bought a Snap-On, fully electronic, model recently. They quarantee it to be calibrated correctly when delivered. The sales rep stated that having it calibrated was very dependent upon how it is used....critical uses ( aircraft maintenance, etc. ) combined with frequent use may require...

    Well ladies

Have a great time, Rad, and a safe journey. If you go through Mountain City, TN while riding the " Snake ", wave at my property in the Shady Meadows subdivision where I'll soon be building a new retirement house.

    FREEKING GRAVEL!!!!

I raced motocross for years and have done a lot of general off-road cycling. Dealing with gravel on the road and off the road are, most often, two entirely different things. No situation presents an absolute certainty, but hitting gravel on the road....in any appreciable amount and in an...

    FREEKING GRAVEL!!!!

Been there, done that. My wife and I went down a couple of years ago while riding near our NC mountain house. Gravel all over the road....we went down so fast we didn't even know what happened. An episode like this tends to make you paranoid about crap on the road. I hope everything works out...

    VStream Report

To all you guys who love the V-Stream....get Skyway's spacers and you'll love it even more. It's good the way it is. The spacers make it great.

    Riding the Dragon tomorrow

The best advice you'll ever get is this.....treat the Dragon like it was the plague and avoid it. Too many other roads ( many in the same area ) offer a superior ride without the risks that the Dragon poses.....***** bikers, trucks and cagers that come into your lane at random, etc., etc. Hunt...

    Damn You State Farm!

Damn. Remind me to stay away from 130 lb. dogs. That just seems like a lot of damage for the circumstance....but what the heck do I know. Hope it all works out for you.

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenence

I'm with the seemingly large group that doesn't quite see the points the author is trying to make. I get the idea he is trying very hard to communicate something profound to me, but our individual operational wave lengths don't overlap enough for that to happen very often. I'm apparently wired...

    38....

I like Slap's solution. I sold my Boone, NC house, jumped right across the state line and bought property in Mountain City, TN and will soon start a new house there for retirement. Going to get the hell out of FL. Having Shady Valley and the " Snake " right out my back door is going to be heaven.

    Vstream Windshield for the 06

I'm not sure if Skyway makes spacers for the '06 and '07. Keeping in mind how utterly subjective this whole issue of shields is, adding the spacers, in my case, took a low back pressure situation and improved it even further. Same for noise and buffeting....made a good situation even better. In...

    Vstream Windshield for the 06

Hey GreyGoose.... I bet you'll love the VStream even more if you get some of Skyway's spacers. They produce a more laid-back angle to the shield which also effectively lowers it. You'll get more benefits and still be able to see over it comfortably.

    Cal-Sci vs. Vstream Comparo

I tried a Cal Sci Tall on my '05. It was the fourth one I tried.....first I tried two stockers and a Cee Bailey. The Cal Sci was a big improvement over the others but it still was not totally satisfactory......had a little more buffeting than I wanted to put up with. I got the V-Stream and it...
