    Forget Chrome Wheels...

I saw this bike ( or one just like it ) at Daytona. It was certainly interesting to look at. I spoke with the manufacturer's rep about the wheels. They are made from some sort of space-age super-duty plexiglass type product. He mentioned what the exact material was but I can't remember the name...

wheatonFJR... I ride an '05 FJR. Go down to Daytona from my home in Jacksonville.

    7 dead in Daytona

It looks like the final count for bikers killed during Bike Week is 7. That's a very sad statistic to say the least. If you go there and experience what goes on, however, you wonder how the count stays so low. I've never seen so many bikers driving so irresponsibly while under the influence of...

    first attempt - trackday photography

I've been what's known as an " advanced amateur " level photographer for more years than I care to admit to. I've read all, or part of, scores of books on the subject. One I would highly recommend to anyone aspiring to become a better photographer is "The Photographers Handbook--Third Edition"...

The Dragon or Wolfs pen gap?

I regularly ride the high country of NC, TN, VA, and WVA. I don't think I ever been on Wolf's Pen gap, but I can assure you that there are many, many roads that put the "Dragon " to shame. I'm building a new home in Mountain City, TN ( getting the hell out of FL and it's heat ) and can't wait to...

    Now that its getting warmer

I've been real happy with the Draggin Jeans line of jeans...the ones with the Kevlar lining in the knee and butt areas. I agree, though, that they are a bit pricy. However, they are extremely comfortable and should last quite a while under normal usage. When I don't wear the full armor "Stiches...

For many reasons, probably not a workable idea.

Any Interest in a Stator Group Buy

I'd be in for one on a group buy.

    Wake Up Call

Someone who eschews riding with a full compliment of armor has, I assume, not yet " enjoyed " the process of acquiring road rash. A pity. The most fun part is when the nurse looks you in the eye, tells you to hold on to something tight, and informs you that her taking a brush to your wounds...

Help!, New FJR, Throttle Tight, Hard To Twist

You have to admit that it's great fun to jump into a dogpile now and then.....thrust a spear here and there and see who you can get to respond with the appropriate amount of squealing. But it is easy to lose sight of the fact that this forum does, in fact, serve an important educational...

Help!, New FJR, Throttle Tight, Hard To Twist

Hey Scythian, You may as well save you breath commenting on incorrect grammar on this forum. It's pervasive....amazing how ignorant some of these idiots are.

    Clutch related chatter

v65.... It has been this way for some time now. I'm going to take Wade up on his offer...grab my Morgan Carbtune and get him to show me how to do the TBS. I've had the dealer do 2 TBS since new but I want to learn this simple ( as I've been told ) procedure. Just had new plugs put in. If...

    Clutch related chatter

S76... I think you are right. It may well be a matter of perspective. I'm going back to my origainal belief. If I'm riding down the road, with the clutch lever fully extended outward, the clutch is obviously NOT allowing any slippage and would, I think, be considered as not being engaged. Pull...

    Considering move to NC

I had a mountain retreat in Boone, NC for 20 years. I got to, and still get to, spend about 3 mos. each year riding the high country of NC, TN, WVA,and VA. I've now decided to pretty much move up to that region full time....giving up Florida. With that in mind, I just recently sold my NC house...

    Clutch related chatter

markjenn.... You're spot on with your assessment. The vibration I hear and feel does, in fact, go away as the revs climb. Probably nothing to be real concerned with but I think I'll get the dealer's opinion next time I'm in there. Perhaps I have an excessive case they can do something about...

    Clutch related chatter

Geezer, Thanks for your clear explanation. Obviously, the other guys also saw my error. The situation still exist, however, that I'm getting some....or quite a lot.... of vibration depending on the position of the clutch lever. I'm thinking I better go ahead and have the dealer take a look.

    Clutch related chatter

Sorry guys, I freely admitted I'm not much of a wrench. To me, when the clutch lever is extended outward ( don't have your hand anywhere near it ) then the clutch is not engaged. When you pull the lever inward, in my mind, you have engaged the clutch. The vibration that exists on reving the...

    Clutch related chatter

When sitting stationary and reving the bike in neutral, with the clutch not engaged, I experience QUITE a bit of vibration that seems to be centered down toward the front of the bike in the engine area. If I pull in the clutch and rev the bike the vibration is not there. I'm not much of a wrench...

    Pre-'06 Air Wings Announcement

I'm sure Skyway would like to get these wings and mounts to us a badly as we want them. I'm sure we'll all be tickled with the final outcome. Imagine....wings and mounts and " set - the - world - on - fire " lights and mounts from the same genius mind. Gotta love Skyway.

    Being in "the Zone"

The times I've been lucky enough to feel I was truly " in the zone" were those times when, for some reason, I was acutely aware.....I mean REALLY acutely aware of everything that was going on around me. The sense of smell was accentuated....the sense of feel was enhanced beyond the norm...I had...
