Adding a relay for accessories to my 2005 FJR

I think I tapped mine on the front right turn signal/running light.

    Saddlebags waterproof?

I've had pretty good luck with mine after being in a couple of significant downpours. I use the bags inside to hold my stuff, and I feel like it's unlikely that if a few drips of rain did get in that they'd be enough to soak the bags.

    Oregon Coast Ride

Awesome ride guys, thanks! I ended up door to door with 393 miles yesterday. Haven't checked the GPS to see what the stats were for travel time and top speed, but I left at 8am, and pulled in to the garage at 7:01pm.

    Volcanoe Ride

Should we start a different thread for this one, to keep a tally of those interested in going as the top post, and avoid confusion?

    Volcanoe Ride

Works for me. Anybody else interested in revisiting/redoing this route in August?

    Volcanoe Ride

I was under the impression this ride was kind of dead in the water since there was no access to Windy Ridge. I was hoping to see it rescheduled for August or something.... Jeff

    Oregon Coast Ride

I think I'm clear. I just got a surprise dose of schoolwork. I'm trying to complete a bachelor's in CIS, and I dicked up one of my AS/400 labs in conjunction with needing to complete work on a 15 page paper on top of the regular work for the week. I have most of the trouble cleared out at the...

    Oregon Coast Ride

Your call. Should be easy to spot us. Understand the commitments. I'm waffling right now due to a significant pile of schoolwork that is on my plate. Going to try and knock out what I can and see where I end up...

    Oregon Coast Ride

Not sure which would be less creepy... a clown that hangs out at playgrounds or that King thing....

    Oregon Coast Ride

Is there anybody even coming from the east side other than me? There was a new guy out in Sandy, I think, for the volcano ride... Otherwise, I might be sitting there all alone. :(

    Oregon Coast Ride

No problem, but it'll be tricky to pin down a time... want someone to call you or something? Mileage right now from our start point (Best Buy) to Cannon Beach is 134, 2:51, but that doesn't account for meeting up at McDonald's, and stops at the Astoria Column or Josephson's (this won't take too...

    Oregon Coast Ride

I don't blame you. Hwy 30 was the plan. Is the McDonalds on Yeon and 26th (past US Bank)?

    Oregon Coast Ride

Same as before - Airport Way Best Buy, 8am. Good deal. Sounds like a plan then...

    Shifting from 5th - 4th - 3rd - 2nd - 1st

<sigh> I'm having a friendly disagreement with a friend of mine that just finished the class in Kalifornia. They told him to perform engine braking, you upshift from 5th -> 1st. In 20+ years of riding, I always called it downshifting, but if I'm mistaken, I'll put on the bicycle...

    Shifting from 5th - 4th - 3rd - 2nd - 1st

Just curious what the consensus opinion is... If you're shifting through the gears from 5th to 1st, do you tell people you're upshifting or downshifting?

    Oregon Coast Ride

Here's what I came up with so far, any input is welcome. 30 to Astoria Stop at Safeway for gas (we should easily have half a tank or more left, but it's convenient) Swing by John Jacob Astor Elementary School (from Kindergarten Cop) Astoria Column (think it's $1 for "parking" (maintenance...

    Volcanoe Ride

Never heard of it. Josephson's. Expensive, but I only get out there a couple of times a year, so I bring a jar of vaseline... I've been there - good stuff. At this point, I guess this is hijacking the thread, but I was mulling over Astoria, a visit to the Column, Josephson's, then down 101 to...

    Volcanoe Ride

Works for me. There's a great (but expensive) place in Astoria to grab smoked fish, so I know what's for dinner on Saturday! I think it costs a buck or two to get down to the lighthouse. Jeff

    Volcanoe Ride

Any Portlanders want to reroute to a coast ride? Out to Astoria, down to Yaquina Lighthouse, then back? I hate to see the day go to waste... Jeff
