    Blast from the past...

My, My, My!!! Yes, that was a HUGE group for April 2004. Brent (quicksilver) hosted riders from MI, IN, OH, and IL that day. Wheaty must have been taking the pic or peeing in a bush somewhere. I see FredFJR in the pic too. ALFJR was there if I recall as well...hmmm who else...memory is...

    Ohio FJR Owners

Guys-Ramble Date in SE OH is June 5-6. Hope to see you guys there. In the interim, I don't see anything stopping us from going on a casual day ride once the weather clears. Or meet at QSL or sumthin' for dinner over the winter BTW, I'm another geek here in Columbus, original owner of an 03...

Poll: Ramble Location for June 2009

Riders--June 5-6 are the Ramble Dates. I just have a few more places to call and possibly check out first. Hang tight, we'll have a place to spew all the kaka the collective can dish out. But it will be in Athens, or darn close. Hey Wayne..good to see you back! How are you feeling?

    Fork oil level question

Gents, I authored the article and found that the 79mm figure is the European version measurement for the 2002 Euro model. 100mm is Americas version 2003 model (which supposedly was the same bike, but since these measurements were different, who knew what else was). Tom, that online manual is...

Poll: Ramble Location for June 2009

Well, I agree parking close is fairly important for most. And you know folks will get back to the cabins without dinner. Lake Hope looks nice, but not very convenient. I have my eye on a couple of other options in our budget price range...stay tuned.

Poll: Ramble Location for June 2009

Scouters, by all means let's boil up a real good route this time. The route doesn't have to be firm until just before the event, so tons of time to scout.

Poll: Ramble Location for June 2009

OK, I talked to the park office and reservation folks at Lake Hope. Not as easy for a group as we may like. Here are the facts. Discussion welcome. Booking: 4 person cabins booked June 5-6, the preferred Ramble date. 5 person cabins: 11 cabins available $75+tax each night (about $83 total )...

Poll: Ramble Location for June 2009

The itinerary will probably go as follows: Meet in the am on a Friday, gas up, rider meet, clutches out by 9:30ish. Starting location TBD and probably not anytime real soon. Probably will have 2 loops (one short, one long) planned for Friday. Get dinner as a group Friday evening. Fri night...

Poll: Ramble Location for June 2009

Something that I won't have info on: Is there any restaurants or gas around this place? No, there really is not! McArthur has gas and food (no chain restaurants, just greasy spoons)-it's about 15 miles away. Zalewski closely does not have anything except a general store (they do sell beer...

Poll: Ramble Location for June 2009

Heidi, April is no good...it's pretty darn cold here that time of the year. And it snows often that month! 90%+ interested in the Lake Hope cabins. Considering taking a day off this week (perhaps Wednesday) and buzz down there to go look at them and perhaps talk to the park office about a...

Poll: Ramble Location for June 2009

Heidi, I saw the link, but guess I thought you meant the Lodge as the resting place and totally did not see the cabin info! The Lake Hope Cabins look ultra promising!! Great find, Heidi. Lake Hope State Park Cabins Perhaps the "Forest Cabins"?? :D $65 for two bedrooms in the heart of...

Poll: Ramble Location for June 2009

Thanks for the suggestions. Pillion wives and such wouldn't like the dorm room thing too much I suspect. The price IS right though!!! Small cabins or lodge rooms would be great..one per "couple" in one bedroom or two couples in a 2 bedroom cabin. Hot tub would be nice to heal the all day...

Poll: Ramble Location for June 2009

Hi Heidi, Nah, I wasn't going to have the host location be a campground...but I'll find one closeby for those who are too cheap to rent a cabin love to camp. Oh, and this will probably be 2 days/nights. Something like stay at host location Friday and Saturday night, ride Sat and Sun, on your...

Poll: Ramble Location for June 2009

Good catch on the cabins, Heidi. Climate controls are a must ay anything over camping rates :) Scouting will be a given regardless of location. I'll need a good excuse for a March (optimistic)/April day trip. Speaking of camping, I'll throw out some places around the area soon enough--all...

Poll: Ramble Location for June 2009

Heidi, Yes please try to get the name of the place and I'll check it out. Hoping to find a cool place to hangout for sure rather than a boring economy hotel (it come to that anyway-little hastle involved in setting that up). There are a lot of cabins with hot tubs and such in the area that would...

    cush drive

I've learned a thing or two about tough to remove bolts from dirt bikes and old cars. My trick is to do the following: 1.) Spray with penetration oil. PB Blaster is IMO the best. 2.) Bang head of screw/bolt with metal hammer. For a small screw, about 10 taps at low force (hammer weight from...
