    Fuel cell on FJR

When I installed the fuel cell on my 2005 I was lucky enough to find a local welder\fabricator that really knew his stuff and was quite familiar with working with motorcycle fuel tanks. Apparently alot of the repairs he does involves fixing tanks on Harleys where the vibration (go figure) has...

Possible Dean Tanji Tank For Sale

I know we are normally not suppose to disemenate information from the IBDone list. But there was a little tidbit of information I thought would be especially relevent in there yesterday. There is a gentleman who has a bike located near Quebec Canada for sale. A 2006 FJR with a bunch of little...

    Frame Tee - stripped threads

Had this happen to both my bike and my Dad's bike. (Yeah, I think the specs in the manual are _way_ too high). Simply drilled the threads out and replaced all three with a fine pitch bolt+nut. used the smallest drill possible that would remove the rest of the threads then found the biggest...

    CB Antenna Question

I dont know about ground plane versus non-ground plane. But the single best thing I ever did was get an antenna with a tunable tip (little thumbscrew in the end) and a SWR meter and make sure it was tuned properly for the installation. FWIW: I am running a 3 ft firefly (I think thats the...

    Whats Your Ride

Well. I'll be riding the same bike I did as last year. A 2005 ABS model. (Gen I). Current odo at the end of this season is 111,500 miles (179500 km). So what FJR's is everyone else riding? And what kinda miles do you have on it? - Colin

2013 IBR FJR Riders Private Area

Let me just say that I am looking forward to 2013 and the start of the rally. But I dont think I can wait untill 2103...... - Colin (Edit... Thats great Matt. You fixed the typo in the title so now nowbody knows what I was talking about with the 2103 reference! :P )

    Brake Pad Bolts

It looks like yours is a Gen II FJR. Not familiar with those myself as I have a Gen I (2004). But on the Gen I the brake caliper bolts are actually hollow. If you overtighten them it is actually possible to cause the bolt to stretch. This makes the center of the bolt pinch (gets narrower)...

    FJR Mileage Milestones

As of Nov-2011 my 2005 FJR 1300 ABS is now up to 178,000 km (or 110,000 miles). (That little 11 day this summer really helped... :) )

    FJRF011: Fast Starter Syndrome

Okay. this is interesting as it happened to me just last week. Here's my scenario. The bike had sat for 2-3 weeks in a heated garage (temps ranged from +5c to +15c) Pressing the starter and the bike turned over as usual for maybe a half second Suddenly the pitched change and the starter was...

    IBR Pilgrimage Begins

Had a really good day yesterday. Using the Aux tank I was able to roll from Sault Ste Marie to Thunder Bay (700 km - 430 miles) without stopping for Gas. Sweet! In Duluth now. Hitting the 'stich store this morning then carrying on westward. - Colin

    IBR Pilgrimage Begins

Hey all. Can't speak for anyone else. But as of Saturday morning I am on the road and heading for the start line in Seattle. Currently I am an hour west of Sudbury Ontario and will be running over the top of Lake Superior tomorrow. Hope to swing by the Aerostich warehouse in Duluth on...

IBR help at finish, Ontario, CA

I doubt you will find anything open on the Monday. Check your calendar, Thats the 4th of July. Stat Holiday on a long weekend. :) That's why I decided to go ahead and plan my "rest" vacation at the end of the IBR till Monday. Plan on wandering around on Tuesday and getting tire and oil...

    IBR Tire Choice

I will be running my '05 FJR in the IBR this year. As such I am looking for some info from any former IBR entrants who have run an FJR in the IBR. What tire did you use and did it go the whole way? At the moment I am strongly considering the Pilot Roads and have a set on order that will go on...

    Driveshaft Gear Coupling

Okay. I got my gearcase reassembled last week too. However I am still rather nervous about this repair. Not knowing anything about this when I started I just started blindly following the directions in the service manual. In doing so I actually completely disassembled the gear case. In...

    Driveshaft Gear Coupling

Okay, quick update. I'm in the same boat as CanadianFJR on this one. Rear leaky diff. Pulled the unit apart and thanks to a heads up on this one there is a groove in the coupler. I ordered a new one and picked it up the other day ($80 us). And lo and behold, the new one is shiney smooth...

    2011 Ibr Who'S In

Nope, not on this trip. I'll use it on longer trips when I am camping. Makes packing the tent and such so much easier. But on this ride there is simply no time to be "camping" (tent, sleeping bag et al). Not to mention the constant drag on gas and tire wear. The FJR will pull a trailer...

    Driveshaft Gear Coupling

Nice catch CanadianFJR. And just in the nick of time! My rear gearcase is apart and on the workbench as I write this. I ordered all the parts last week, they came in yesterday and I was going to put it back together this weekend. Got your email giving me a heads up. so first thing I do out...

    Braided Steel Brake Lines

Looking for suggestions on where to obtain a full Braided Steel Line replacement kit for a Gen I ABS. I know there are many places out there. But I would prefer a kit that is built specifically for a Gen I ABS (2005) bike. Something I can just go ahead and "bolt on". Would love to here from...

    2011 Ibr Who'S In

Thanks on the descrete bit. A few people knew but I was trying to stay under the radar. But I figured its only six months to go and I've paid all my fees so I might as well stick my head up. No problem on the wheels for me. When I bought my '05 FJR in the summer of 04 (Was one of the first...
