Re. TPS, it doesn't sound like that type of issue but even if I was wrong, I don't believe a failing TPS would trigger the Engine Trouble light.

Welcome to the Forum Dave.  Nice to see the search skills you're bringing but keep an eye on the dates of some of those posts.  That one you quoted is closing in on three years old.

Likewise with risking a performance award.  Might a rider make a risk/reward decision at this point when it comes to interstate speeds and willing take the punishment if stopped?  Does the staff monitor his or her progress that closely?

The question about recalls has been asked before although don't remember reading a definitive answer.  I can't cite to any source but I'd imagine a dealer would be legally prohibited from selling any vehicle with a known safety defect.  Easy enough to just ask when buying though.
