The words you hate to hear from a non-rider

I get the comment and question all too frequently- sometimes from loved-ones who genuinely care (and who don't understand), and from "aquaintances" who are truely clueless. :dribble: To to the loved-ones I take the time to try and explain; to the others I simply say "Yea, its not for...

PowerCommander, is it really worth it?

I reluctantly post this reply, cause I don't really know what I'm talking about here... , but the dealer (one of the service techs) suggested I install a "DFO" (Digital Fuel Optimizer) -- as he noticed that after I installed my Blue Flame exhausts, that the engine was not running...

    Insurance for FJR

The "insurance world" is a mystery -- as witnessed by the replys, insurance premiums are all over the place. I think the answer is, "it depends", on lots of stuff. My rec is to contact 5 or 6 of the companies and simply get a quote (be sure to be comparing "apples to apples" with regard...

Been a Harley rider for years...

Glad to have you aboard Spridal. I did the cruiser thing for a couple of years before discovering the FJR. And have never looked back -- it really is a totally different ride and riding experience. Luckily I never spent too much on the "leather farkles" -- did get some leather chaps...

    FJR highway footrest mount

Thanks Terry - I just put them on last week and everything was perfect. Easy install, and great instructions. Haven't done a long trip yet, but in my brief experience with them, know that they will help with the legs!! Great stuff. Jay

Lessons Learned On A Road Trip

SP -- good stuff! I recently drove from Ontario airport to Mission Hills (near Palm Springs) and went right through the section where they had those thousands of huge windmills along the road! And in a small rental Hundai no less -- I was changing lanes without even turning the wheel ! :o...

    CENTER STAND

Gotta admit, after getting my 05 a year ago, and reading all the posts about "how easy is is getting it up on the centerstand"; I felt like a moron -- as I COULDN'T DO IT!! :dribble: Then one day, VIOLA! it went right up like a charm :o . It definately helps having someone...

Found all that is wrong with 05!

Those valve stem caps probably cost the original Harley owner $50 a piece, and leaked both air, and oil.......... :D Jay

    Throttle Rocker

Am also using the velcro TR and leave it on all the time -- have found it REALLY helped with my initial sore wrist / numbness experience. You get used to it fairly quickly, but as others have said - every once in awhile you "accidently" apply too much pressure, and get instant acceleration...

    Exercises

Odot - funny you said that (about dangling the legs) -- I did an overnite trip with a friend from Sweeden (on a Goldwing) - and I swear, half the time he was dangling his legs. From behind it looked like a motorcycle with training wheels. His boots were a mere "C/H" above the pavement! I...

    lawinter

I have been in a "fog" all afternoon after hearing this very sad news. Didn't know Larry, yet I feel a closeness to all of you, in a way that still surprises me at times. I often say to my wife (who asks why I'm looking at the FJR Forum so much) that these are all special people. We all...

    D&H Received 27 FJR's Today

Cruel nitelife. Just downright cruel..... Though, gotta admit I got a good laugh (having been a waiter in 05). Watch your back!! :o Jay

    Teerex bites the dust

Brother Stef: First -- glad you made it to tell the story. Secondly -- thanks for sharing. While I hate to hear or see stories of riders in mishaps, its a great reminder to stay vigilant, and to WEAR THE GEAR !! Know you'll be riding soon again. Heal quickly! With best wishes from...

    Old Dominion FJR Riders Group

Jim -- can't make the 4/8 date (in Palm Spring playing golf with my west coast brother) -- if you do go through it please post your thoughts about the experience. I'm interested, and if you think is worthwhile, might sign up for one of the later classes. Bit of a drive for me...

    First solo ride

Thanks Jill -- keep it up !! I'm not the most experienced rider on this board, by a long shot. So I enjoy reading about others experiences, and hope to learn from them. I look forward to every ride, and always look forward to a new learning experience -- or a new riding experience...

    Windshield

Have an 05 with Cee Baileys +4+2 and it is a definate improvement over stock. I'm 6'0" and still get some buffeting - find myself playing with the screen adjustment depending on speed. At full "up" position, its preety good, but I'm looking through the top edge  - I'm getting...

    FJR Down

30 years of riding and once down ain't bad..... only hope I can go that long (which means I'll be riding at 80 years young! :) Funny, was just going through "Total Control" by Lee Parks this weekend and was reading about "target fixation". Thanks for sharing your experience...
