I would rate them as significantly less gay than leather chaps. I have a pair, and they did survive a get off at about 25 mph - I was very satisfied. I do think it's not just the Kevlar that adds to the weight, but also the denim is thicker than regular jeans.

My dad has an '04 Warrior - it I had not been able to get my FJR (I bought off the floor, not PDP) I was going to get an '05 to match. It's nowhere near the FJR, but it's got a lot of 'grunt' and is a blast to ride.

Yamaha Warrior comes with a single HUGE single side can, but I think they're a 2 into 1. They should be fairly easy to come by, since it seems that new pipes is the first thing anyone does to a Warrior.
