2006 died on freeway on way home from trip

slatonp4, It's all good, it's just that the instructions for the PC install specifically calls out to connect the ground to the battery terminal. There are some accounts that site strange action of the PC when not grounded to the battery terminal. But there are others that have done it...

2006 died on freeway on way home from trip

Is the Power Commander grounded directly to the battery terminal? If not, might be something to try.

Have you checked the 15A fuse (I) in the wiring diagram? Check the brown/blue wire for power with the key on. That wire feeds 6 of those fuses from the ignition switch. I would second the notion for checking the ignition switch and ground spider recalls.

    Tenere 700 World Raid

They've been fiddle'farten around with this bike for five years! They're overthinking this thing. They have 2 great common motors already. The twin 700 and the triple 900, just build a great dirt bike frame to go around them. 2 Dirt bike's using proven motors they all ready build for 2 model...

    Heading to Groton, Ma

I lived in Groton, CT for a short period, just be ready for some really cold temps at times. At least it doesn't get socked in with drizzly rain for months at a time. I hope you have heated gear. Outside of the main metro areas, it's pretty rural. It does't take long to go through 3 states in...

    What do you do, Jack?

I would have liked to see a video of that test.

    What do you do, Jack?

RichDoyle, That sucks that your new CalSci shield is giving you problems. Contact them to see if they have any solutions. Maybe heating it in the sun before install? I thought I read/ytubed just about everything written about FJR windshields and haven't seen/read anything pertaining to...

2006 died on freeway on way home from trip

Pull the tank up and locate the 2 plugs going to fuel sender/pump. The plug with the red/blue wire is the fuel pump. Check across terminals with a multi meter or test light. Turn key on, should have power. If it has power it's most likely the pump. If it has no power than it's the circuit to the...

    What do you do, Jack?

SacramentoMike, No doubt the Gen 3 windshield design is better and stronger. The Cal Sci Gen 3 shield has two versions: "● Vented for minimum turbulence and back pressure, except for 2013 standard width and all tinted shorties." The Gen 3 extra wide has a small vent hole. The Cal Sci shield...

    What do you do, Jack?

ThwartedEfforts, That extra wide CalSci will help keep the wind and rain away from hand/forearm area. I think your climate is similar to Pacific Northwest, so hot conditions are minimal. I see your point about the multiple edges to look through. Hopefully your new screen works for you. No...

    What do you do, Jack?

I hear you. I came across a NOS Yamaha Touring shield at a crazy cheap price that I couldn't pass up. Now I have 2 of those. I was going to use the old one to experiment on. Maybe cut the top off, and make some kind of quick release/adjustable laminar lip. For the hot summer months something...

    What do you do, Jack?

I have the Cal-Sci large and can say it is better than the Yamaha Touring screen that came on my Gen 1. 1) Less buffeting. 2) Less vacuum. No more pull on the back of the helmet feeling. When raised a 1/4 way up takes care of 75% of wind noise. When raised all the way, dead quiet. When all the...

Whats the procedure after tip over?

+1 mcatrophy: If the ignition was on, it will stop the engine and store a fault code, but no other affect. In your case, no affect at all. Might be a good idea to check anything that might have hit the ground, handle bars and triple clamp, for any unusual issues. Don't be shocked by the price...

Whats the procedure after tip over?

Thankfully they are designed to not leak fuel and oil all over the place when tipped over. I too was in a hurry, kicking the center stand instead of the kickstand. I failed to look, leaned it over without looking at the kickstand and down she went. I was expecting fuel and oil dripping...

LED Replacement Bulbs for Gen 1 Speedo Assembly

This thread was a huge help in the quest to change my Gen 1 over to all LED's and since I had to tear the front cowl off for other repairs anyway. There are 3 white colors now all 120 degree beam angle, (Cool 6600K, Natural 3800K, Warm 3200K). For the 4 back lights I wanted to somewhat keep the...

    Help- Power commander install

I would also check the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) to make sure it is set correctly and hits all the numbers from 0-100. Just go into the diagnostic mode on the multi-function display. I'm not sure the menu number on an '06. Lube the throttle cable with some good cable lube while you have it...

no start.... please help if you can

You're right Fred W, an electrical problem between the starter button and the starter relay or the starter relay itself is on the right track. Isn't there some electrical plugs under the front of the fuel tank that can get corroded and cause strange electrical mysteries? Hopefully it's the...

no start.... please help if you can

These are all great suggestions. This is probably a long shot but try putting it in gear on the ground with the clutch out and rock it back and forth, 2nd gear might be better than 1st. It might jar something out of hibernation. Something easy to try anyway. Hopefully it's not a PITA. Good Luck!
