    Gen 1 2003 FJR Forks

Thanks... you are right about the fork oil, and that goes for engine oils too. So, I wont be participating in those conversations either... or maybe I should just to wake some up hahah (;-)

    Gen 1 2003 FJR Forks

After reading the issues with the newer FJRs, were the forks can get jammed while taking them apert, I'm wondering if the Gen 1, specifically a 2003, have the same issues as the newer ones. I'm working through the different items on this project bike, and forks are next. So I'm trying to find...

    Lost Power '02 FJR

Guys - thanks for the quick replies. I was informed in the other FJR forum that G1 does not have ground spider - and good to know G1 did not have spiders, thus why I couldn't find them. I had already done most of the work suggested by the feedbacks. Now - I just figured it out! I have to say...

    Lost Power '02 FJR

That what I thought... so, how many grounds am I dealing with on this bike and where are they aside from the obvious battery to engine? Where are the locations of the spider ground that I read about issues with? I did look at the spider grounds post with the pics, but I cannot find those in the...

    Lost Power '02 FJR

I did that too, I even bypassed it and jumped the connectors on the bike side of the harness. Nothing. The post referred to above has at least dim lights on turn signals. I have nothing. I did unplug, clean and replug ever accessible connector as suggested above - nothing.

    Lost Power '02 FJR

Thanks - Yep, checked that at too. I have 12V between battery and frame in multiple locations, as well as good continuity from the Neg wire to many points on the frame and engine. I've also removed, cleaned and remounted the NEG to motor ground wire just in. The weird thing about this is now it...

    Lost Power '02 FJR

I'm working on an '02 FJR that was running but missing. We started troubleshooting some fuel and ignition posible issues. While doing this, we saw that the battery was getting weak so we swaped with a new battery. The new battery is 100%. We installed it and From that point forward we have not...

Bucket List Trip: Riding round trip from Deming, NM to Quantico, VA. Need a good tire dealer before Cherhola Skyway

There a several motorcycle parts stores, service shops and dealers around the Tellico Plains area just W of the Cherahola Pkw - do a search. Also a HD dealer as you head to the pkwy if that works for your. If you want someone with good service and knowledge, check out Wheeler's in Robinsville TN...

    helmet speakers

After trying various sets of helmet speakers readily available in the market, I felt that none really worked well. Having spent years in the automotive high end audio field I thought there had to be a better way. After all, a helmet is an excellent sound enclosure. I researched and I found some...

    Slippery Slope

I agree, it's a bad habit that some (on line) writers have and it's difficult for them to break. It's often hard to tell if it's on purpose or as an attempt to be noticed. And then there's the lack of punctuation, whick makes difficult reading, and spell checking too.

Swap Delkevic DL-10 carbon cans for stock OEM

You may want to check if the baffles have been removed. I have Delkevics on a couple of bikes - including the FJR, and the baffle makes quite a difference. The two are different models and sound differently. The shorter, the louder - big difference between a 13" and an 18" can with and without...

Engine cutoff at 70+ mph is just marginally frightening

I've experienced water in fuel after buying gas in a remote area small station which I generally avoid - big mistake. However, the option would have been to run out of gas in the middle of nowhere before finding another station. My experience was sputtering and loss of power after some miles...

    Fatter Grips

Funny...while I wait for my next ride 🤣🤣🤣. GP are not contoured, just flat straight across. Flat across meaning they don't have a shape to match you hand, like the OEM rubbers ones.

    Fatter Grips

I first used Grip Puppies on my FJR. However, in addition to Grip Puppies which are flat across the length of the grip, there's the very inexpensive Cycle Gear "Trackside" branded 7/8 grips for $6.99. I use both brands on different bikes, but I've been using the CG ones for many years prior to...

Do you all get “challenged” at stop lights?

Thanks... That has now been updated because the ends caps attached to the carbon fiber started to loosen up. I I stalled a Delkevic tri-oval 16" - and it also sounds awesome! This is my other Bandit - it's just a 600 though 😉

New to FJR, rode HD,Goldwings,Cruisers for decades, wife doesn’t want to ride anymore

Also had a Goldwing. When my wife decided she couldn't ride anymore, I went to an FJR. There's nothing that FJR can't do better than the Goldwing...no looking back, except for the great trips on the wing 🙂

Do you all get “challenged” at stop lights?

Yeah, get that on the FJR too, but when on the Bandit 1200, it seems more often because it looks older and may appear as not capable. Surprise - even many other bikes don't have a chance 😁. Don't mess with me Bandit 😉!

    Battery

Thanks - I was looking at the bike for the starter acccess - and since I've yet have to dig too deep into this bike, I don't see how to get to it without side faring removals - It appears I may have to remove the fairing(s) - L or R? While I'm perfectly capable of a full disassebly if needed, I...
