Flat Blue Paint - How is it holding up?

JQL - Early on I considered the Chemical Guys ceramic coating. I was wondering about results and need for reapplication. > Does it give the matte a gloss is sheen of any kind? > How long has it been since you applied it and does it require reapplication? > What was the process like to apply it...

Flat Blue Paint - How is it holding up?

I have an '18 and while I love the color itself when it's perfectly clean, yet it does not last long. > It does buff to a shine where something rubs and there's no going back (that I know of). > No bodyshop wants deal with it. Whereas anyone can deal with with coats. > I've tried various...

    Gps Recomendations

I had a reliable till the end Zumo 550 after having had 450 for many years too. Finally the 560 started the commonly know issues at about 10 yo. I purchased a Zumo XT and I'm very pleased with it. Lots of features and customizations, and lifetime map updates (up to 4x/year).

    Chrome-plating Source?

I live in Central Fla, and have not had any luck finding local one in the past. Odd - you'd think that with all the chrome used on trucks and Harleys they'd have a good business here 🤣. So the closest I've directed to (but not used yet) are in the Space Coast area.

    Tues Signal Canceller

Which one does your FJR have?
  6. Sunnyorlando

    Tues Signal Canceller

Well, on not moving it makes sense since stop to turn at a controlled intersection usually takes a minute or longer. So that's intentional.

    Tues Signal Canceller

Having replaced my Goldwing of 15yrs with the FJR, I was so used to not dealing with the turn signals - yes, a bit spoiled. So now after a about a year and half i decided to try an aftermarket canceller. I decided on the ST2. Well, after just a few miles of testing, I have to say that it's nice...

    Clutch Problem

Well, not exactly IMO tin foil may not be strong enough for the required effet. It would probably not last. It would be like having a longer throw. Yes, the master only goes to a certain point, but the two are related. If the pin is too long (like adding too much tin or other material), it...

    Clutch Problem

Wouldn't that cause the slave pin to bottom out and create another issue over time by putting undue pressure on the clutch assembly?

    Clutch Problem

Yes, good place to look at and start. Also the fluids as mentioned. As I have dealt with many used and project bikes over the years, it amazes me how little attention is placed on simple and inexpensive maintenance such as this. Might also want to look at the front brake lever which has a...

    Wind Roar

For my '18, I chose a Vstream +4” (first time with this brand) and it works OK for me at 5'10”. I have not experimented with other brands/styles on this this bike - yet. I also made a 'pillow' (stuffer) I can shove into the center passthrough vent above the instruments, and that made difference...

    ECU Reflash Question...Turned Rev Limiter

I took my bike in yesterday for the ECU flash 'recall' and they completed it in just a few mins. They recall moved the rev limit for 1, 2 and 3rd gear that was kicking in at 4k RPM to 6k RPM. Frankly, had they moved the kick in point to 4500 or 5k would have been enough. Everythine else reamins...

FJRF013 - Transmission Recall for Second Gear (DE, UK, CA, & US) (2016-2020)

A recall for the recall is in! The ECUs can be reflashes to eliminate the "overly restrictive" RPM control while the clutch is open and in 1st & 2nd gears under 30MPH. I'm glad I was not the only one feeling this way about tha issue.

    FYI 2nd Gear Recall

A new racall is out to address teh ECU issue after the 2nd gear recall. I had filed a complaint with the NHTSA and apparently enough of us did the same. I just got mine today. Its states that the 2nd gear ECU reflash may be "overly restrictive" - which I agree completely.

    ECU Reflash Question...Turned Rev Limiter

Yep, that the symptom. I see it happen in 3rd as well and up to about 30mph.

    ECU Reflash Question...Turned Rev Limiter

This post? "The reflash interrupts the spark when bike is started (begins to move) in second gear with above idle revs. No other change. Also mentioned that there are no reported Canadian 2nd gear failures." Sounds like it - my recall had not been done yet in Feb so I missed didn't pay much...

    ECU Reflash Question...Turned Rev Limiter

Correct, sped is important - I notice it up to about 30mph. I may want to reverse the flash.. is that possible?

    ECU Reflash Question...Turned Rev Limiter

It is definitely a rev limiting control. Just coast at slow up to about 30mph in 1st, 2nd or 3rd - pull (open) the clutch lever and rev up -  the limiter it kicks in at 4k.
