I did the exact same thing on my '21, then installed the Shad 58X. I did order the additional Shad aluminum mounting plate and mounted that to the Yamaha aluminum rack. Spaced the Shad plate back about 3/5 inch, and it fits like a glove.

Looking at my Gen3 2021 manual, they went back to a 13 pin connector for 2016-2021. Bike is in the shop or I'd find the exact location and connector as well.

3M 5200 Marine Adhesive might work as well.

I used the Admore Lighting harness. Really easy to hook up the VT+.
