Electrical mystery / brake lights '06 FJR

They must have drained coolant for some reason and didn't refill? That or the thermostat is messed up. (Fans shouldn't come on in normal riding unless it is very warm and you are stopped for a longer period of time so not likely a disconnected fan/relay.)

    ABS Light Blinking

Would a faulty brake switch affect the ABS? Pretty sure it wouldn't on earlier Gen bikes.

    ABS Light Blinking

Start with removing, cleaning and re-greasing the rear brake pedal. The pivot gets sticky and should be serviced at least annually. It wouldn't hurt to remove the ABS sensors and make sure they are clean. Edit: Does your cruise control work properly? A sticking rear brake pedal will also...

    Reserector from Laurel, Mississippi

Me too! The vast majority of my trips are solo, although I had a friend join me for a TransLab Hwy run last year. Moto camping can be most enjoyable, although takes time if the main object is to get somewhere. In the past year, I have done more trips that involve camping on my BMW F700GS...

    Fender extension - 3D print

Looks good. There are a couple of commercially available options for those without the design skills and/or 3D printing equipment. https://pyramidmoto.co.uk/products/yamaha-fjr-1300-including-a-as-ductail-matte-black-2006 (similar effect as your design)...

    Parts Wanted RDL - Let's Not Laugh - Gen 2 or 3

Can't help you but you might want to say whether your bike is Gen I or Gen II+. Edit: I see that the title was changed to include the requisite info.

Without having it in front of me with a multimeter (Volts and Ohms) to help see what's going on at the socket, bulbs and switches, I can't really help any further. Anyone who knows anything about old-school automotive electrics should be able to diagnose and fix this. The signalling system...

Congratulations. Is the 2004 you plan to buy the ABS version? If so, see if you can check to make sure the rear ABS works - a fair number failed when the owners didn't maintain them properly or "exercise" them regularly. A wet or sandy asphalt parking lot is a safe test venue...

    Hi all.

Congratulations! and welcome from New Brunswick, Canada. Did you check that recalls were performed - there were two for 2008. Ground junction (aka "spider") and ignition switch. You should also look to make sure that the cam chain tensioner (CCT) is the newer design - identified by a blue or...

Latch and lock set for luggage bags

These sometimes come up as the bike comes with an extra for the top case and some people don't use the Yamaha case. Not sure where you are looking, but Yamaha sells a set of THREE locks. Prices vary between on-line vendors but I have seen them for around $140 for the set (2 keys, three locks)...

    Time to say goodbye

Shall we assume that it isn't a brand that is commonly used by FJRForum members? There is a fine line between trash-talking a company's product before the issue is investigated appropriately and preventing a devastating fire that might happen to another rider.

    Service Manual Falling Apart

Mine is coil bound in two volumes. Easier to use as it stays open where you want it. Less likely to tear out compared to hole punch and 3 ring binder.

Electrical mystery / brake lights '06 FJR

Can't remember if the signal light is combined with the running light or the brake light. In any case, the tail light assembly contains two each of two bulb types. The 1156 is a single filament bulb with a single contact on the base and two locating pins which fit into slots in the socket are...

Electrical mystery / brake lights '06 FJR

Front brake light switch (subject of a recall) or rear brake pivot sticking and requiring clean and grease. Sounds like brake is on all the time. Also, check that the sockets for the brake lights are clean and not corroded. Make sure that the replacement bulbs were inserted correctly and not...
