    Fuel Tank Capacity

'06 was the first year of Gen II (not Gen I). The photo in the post is Gen III+ (2013 or later).

    Hello

For most people, it is seat, windscreen, bar risers and (for some) highway pegs. Crash bar protection (or frame sliders) too. Consider auxiliary lights for conspicuity, if not for improved night vision. Changes for "fit" depend on your stature and riding habits. The FJR won't be a road sofa...

    Fuel Tank Capacity

FJRs typically hit "reserve" with something like 6 litres left in the tank. Often sooner if the bike is on the sidestand but will (eventually) correct itself when riding or on the centerstand. Possible that the float arm on the fuel pump assembly could be bent to more accurately reflect the...

    Getting a new bike, beamer...

The TMM used to be priced quite reasonably but they went nuts over the last two years. Dunlop often has a $40 rebate available but only applicable to "in person" purchase from a Dunlop Pro Dealer - not mail order. The tires do last a very long time and worth it for a very long trip - thinking...

    Getting a new bike, beamer...

The F700GS is also at 75 HP, but 460 lb wet (409 dry). Plus me and my stuff. Power is sufficient for a highway run but fuel economy starts to plummet above 60 mph or so. At 50mph or below, I'll see 60 mpg or a little better. This is with ginormous side cases and a large Madstad windshield...

    Noobie

That filter is UGLY!! Congratulations on the 2010 (I have a 2011 with 100,000 miles). Lots of help here on maintenance, farkles and advice. Search function works well, but if you have questions, ask away. The FJR has more HP than the Road Glide although torque is less. Repair costs...

    Getting a new bike, beamer...

What's the weight comparison between the BMW and Husky? HP difference? I've been putting some km on my F700GS, although a greater proportion on asphalt than I would prefer. Just got back from a 6100 km Newfoundland trip. Zero issues with the bike to date other than an intermittent rear tire...

    Plug wire/connector separation...

Probably doesn't matter but I would likely bend them back... You see the spiral spike that goes into the wire?

    Plug wire/connector separation...

Don't trim back much - Yamaha wasn't overly generous with their wire!! Just enough (1/4"?) to get to unoxidized copper. You can spread the wires across the insulation - there won't be much. The spiral "spike" in the sparkplug boot just screws into the end of the wire. Note: Use a thin...

    2007 body panel removal? HELP

Are Panel retention bolts right color?

Or clean most of it out with a toothpick before it dries... ANY wax on the screw head will prevent the paint from adhering.

Are Panel retention bolts right color?

Just don't get much in the hex socket or your wrench won't fit!

Welcome! I'm 69, but have only had two FJRs in 14 years. Managed to put close to 300,000 miles on them without any significant issues. As SkooterG said, they can take the miles.

Time for a Dog Pile on Monday!

When it's time, it's time. (For whatever reason.) (DR400 could still "scratch the itch", as needed) Good luck!

Brand new member, 1st Gen owner

I looked for (and couldn't discern) the silver plug in the first photo, but it is clear in the last one. Excellent suggestion on the CCT! While at 30,000 miles, it is LIKELY still OK, but why take the chance. As Dan said, it makes sense to do all the general engine maintenance stuff at the...
