    two batteries for the FJR?

Um... Huh? Are you referring back to the double-battery thing? If so, I'll point out that the OP mentioned installing a second battery in parallel (not in series).

    two batteries for the FJR?

Their batteries look so...small. The gerbrings I saw were like 7.2 volt lithium...I need something that will hold a charge for like 8-12 hours, mostly because my winter bike, or my other potential winter bike are so fast, that it will take me hours to get to work.

"You need a new clutch, sir."

Go online and buy 1 fibre plate and 1 steel. Remove clutch cover. Remove the special end plate. Insert steel, insert fiber, Replace special end plate. Fail to be able to reassemble because clutch pack is now too thick. Easy. To be totally serious, though, if you go online and order the bits...

    two batteries for the FJR?

I thought it was forumarian? Or 'mental patient'. Either form is acceptable. On a somewhat serious, on-topic note, I was just wondering about the possibility of using a small, deep cycle battery -- like one I saw being used to power a CB radio, looked to be about the size of a typical...

hurt my back trying to put fjr on center stand

My bike is lowered, and I figured out that technique really matters when it is lowered. But I can see how a wee lass might not weigh enough to be able to do it, considering the extra force required. I'd say it takes 10-15% more 'push' with my right foot than it did stock. So I'm probably putting...

    Surrounded by *******!

If the roads looked like that here in the winter, I'd ride.

Test Ride Nightmare!! Could use some advice please...

I'll throw in my vote for giving the guy a low-ball price 'as is', and replacing the parts that need them on your own time. My guess would be that if you walk in to the dealer and say: here's 10,000 american dollars, I'll take the bike as it sits plus the 2 year YES warranty, I'll let you know...

    Surrounded by *******!

I guess I'm a *****. I rode into December again this year, and I've ridden while it was snowing. But we got about 15 or 16 inches overnight, so I took my luxurious, 2wd, 1981 pickup to work today. I did drive with the windows down since the defrost doesn't work (I'm thinking mouse nest in the...

Dropped by my business insurance carrier

Insurance companies suck. I just got a letter from my insurance company saying that they were re-doing the way they insure bikes, in the past they compared bikes only based on cc, so my wifes ninja 650 was fairly cheap and my FJR1300 was no different from previous cruiser. But under the new...

Will the Droid supplant other electronic devices?

I don't understand the battery life thing, my friend got a Droid phone a little while ago, he's constantly staring at the thing, sending texts and getting texts, looking up stupid crap on the net, all that, he never carries his charger with him, and crashes overnight at friends houses (mine...

    What's this?

Yeah, the price is in line with other liter bikes, but what we all forget is all the extra charges they bring with them: Speeding. Reckless Endangerment. Negligent handling of a motor vehicle. Driving with obstructed vision. Failure to yield. Passing on a double yellow. Engaging in a contest of...

    A vs AE

The AE isn't quite 'automatic'. It does away with the manual clutch, and instead a computer operates the clutch to allow the bike to sit at idle, and then engages the clutch when you rev the bike up to pull away from a stop. The clutch is run by the computer for upshifting and downshifting as...

Harley-Davidson is going to discontinue Buell M/C line

That pic has nothing to do with buell closing, those are test bikes, and sad as it is, they're always scrapped... Still, very sad all around.

Wanted: Sargent seat, for Gen II

I can't edit the title apparently, but I'm updating that I have FOUND a seat, mailed a check and I am not waiting on UPS... Capitalism strikes again!

    Custom paint color choices

What would it look like reversed? Flat black with a nice red racing stripe? Or with the stripe a little lower, so the whole tail section plastic is the stripe color, and then across the lower fairing? Maybe another stripe up high? Man I wish this computer had something better than Paint...

    Face shield fog reduction

I've been using a 'breath box' in my HJC for the last 2 winters, and I like it. If it fogs up your glasses/sunglasses, that may mean you need to adjust the 'nose bridge' so that it fits against the side of your nose. I've ridden down into the 20's so far this year, and fogging is *almost*...

Oil bird bath under oil filter

I guess you could try putting a smidge-o-tape over it. Masking tape maybe... I think it is only there to annoy you. Not us, just you, in particular. Every time you change your oil and get angry at it, an engineer looks up from his work, and says "Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen..."...

    Raking leaves instead of riding.

I've been taking the 'organic' approach to my yard. There are leaves in the back yard. Soon, it won't matter, when they are covered with snow. But for now, they seem to trap the smells of rabbits and such, so the dog finds them quite interesting.

    Enlarging my fuel tank

Yep. Even if we're not, right here here, we'll be pretty close. Like, withing hearing range. Of here.
