Garmin XM Antenna Mount for Gen III

Back when Gen I's were the current model, a Forum member fabricated a bunch of cool items, including a mounting plate for the GXM-30 puck used by the Zumo 550. The mounting plate screws onto the top of the clutch reservoir with longer replacement screws, and the GXM-30 is mounted on the bracket...

    California Lane Splitting/Sharing Guidelines

When done properly, lane sharing is a safe and efficient way for experienced riders to move through congested traffic areas. The Study Guide is intended for new riders, who should not be lane sharing, so its advice is appropriate for the targeted audience. Lane sharing allows me to choose the...

    Mounting for Escort 9500

I use a Garauld Reservoir Bracket on the brake reservoir, as described in this post: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?showtopic=122532

    Mounting for Escort 9500

Here's your original thread: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=125576 I Google'd 'cajw radar site:fjrforum.com', and it was third on the list. It's an interesting idea, but the arrows and counter on my V1 are important info for me, so I prefer to have mine mounted on the...

    Tonopah to Vegas--Suggestions?

US-95 between Tonopah and Beatty is heavily enforced, with caravans of instant-on wielding cruisers. Take appropriate care.

    bracket for mounting Escort 9500

I'm partial to the Garauld Reservoir bracket: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?showtopic=122532 Mounts on either reservoir, fore-and-aft adjustable, and it's easy to mount and dismount the detector. Plus, Garauld's workmanship is first-rate.

A quick ride up to Grants Pass, Oregon. For a BBG.

Congrats, and kudos on the great ride report. A BBG is a significant accomplishment!

Bagster Tank Cover + 3 Tank Bags for Gen 2 (Excellent Condition!)

I picked up a pre-owned Bagster for my '05 about a year ago, along with the Galaxy Blue equivalent of the "medium" bag in this offer, and it is the bomb. I had too many occasions where a heavy cross wind would dislodge my previous magnetic tank bag, so the absolutely secure Bagster tank bag was...

Less Expensive Alternative To Kermit Chair?

My cool Aunt had a saying: "Buy the best, and cry only once..." I have a Blue Max folding camp chair (webBikeWorld review), and while the price and size is right, the durability is iffy.

bag liners - whole or half?

Here's a thread about an alternative to the OEM bag liners: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/150867-kathys-bag-liners-for-the-fjr/ I've been very happy (so far) with my Kathy's Bag Liners. Standard disclaimer: I have no connection with the vendor, other than as a satisfied...

What did you do to your FJR today?

Well, with 102 pages of ride reports, farkle installs, tire details, and maintenance reports, my packing post didn't seem too far out of line...

What did you do to your FJR today?

My wife called me at work and said she needed me to pick up some things from the store on my way home - a gallon of milk, a gallon of orange juice, a gallon of apple juice, and a few other miscellaneous things. No problem. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to take out my rain/cold gear bag, which...

    GPS Mounting Location

I've got the GXM-30 XM radio puck on my clutch reservoir, and the V1/SPOT stack on the brake reservoir, using a Garauld reservoir mount, so the center mount for the Zumo works best for me. (I have a RAM steering head nut.)

    Best radar detector for MC

The arrows give you confidence that you know where the threat is located, and allows you to adjust accordingly. Can you get by without the arrows? Sure -- but you'll avoid more tickets by having the arrows available. If the audio tells you that the threat is about a mile away and traveling in...

    Best radar detector for MC

For me, the primary input on the V1 is the audio. Different tones for different bands, with the beeps getting closer together as you get nearer to the radar source, becoming a constant tone when the source is very close. When multiple sources are close, you'll hear a special beep when new ones...

    Best radar detector for MC

90,000 miles with a V1, above the posted limit more often than not -- and I've only been caught once, and it was entirely my fault. US-95 northbound between Beatty and Tonopah, a well-known instant-on radar corridor, and I was 15 over in a hilly, twisty section -- yes, I'm an ***** sometimes...

    Rear subframe failure poll

I've run a Pelican 1520 case mounted directly to the stock luggage rack on my '05 for about 35,000 miles, with no sub-frame failures.

What did you do to your FJR today?

Short answer: I rode from Pasadena to Willows on I-5, then down to San Jose and Paso Robles on US-101, then back to Pasadena. Long answer: First, some background: [a] my youngest son, 24 years old, moved up to the Bay Area last June for a job transfer, and when he left I told him I would see...

What did you do to your FJR today?

The V1 and the stereo audio jack on the Zumo mounting bracket are wired to a Sena SM10 bluetooth stereo transmitter, which is paired with the SMH10. My Droid Razr Maxx HD phone is paired to the Zumo, and the Zumo is then paired to the SMH10. The Zumo runs with phone-only bluetooth -- on the...
