YFO 2017 Yosemite Group Ride Planning Thread

There were many days in our inglorious past when snow like this would make us tingle all over and pray for first tracks.

Saguaro cactus only grow in the Sonora Desert. No where else on the planet. From north of Phoenix, well south into Mexico. Probably can google it to see the boundaries.

I-10 Corridor the first week in Feb.

I'm sorta doing the reverse. Leaving Tucson around Feb 10, leisurely heading east as far south as possible, arriving in Key West 7 or 8 days later. Drinking margaritas for a couple of days and then heading back west possibly a bit further north.

PCH to South then North thru central California

I just noticed Hwy 2 on a map, from just north of Pasadena running east thru the hills to Hwy 138. Does anyone know what that road is like? Looks real twisty and fun on Google Maps.

PCH to South then North thru central California

36 is the road for FJR riders, 295 for HD's and motor homes. It is a great ride in both directions and when you get your zen going and a bit of pucker, you can get a very, very nice buzz. Love it.

    YFO 2017 - Yosemite and Beyond - June 1-3, 2017

On my CA top 5 list, love that road along with 36, 3, 295 and another one in the area. Everyone needs to run 191 in SE Arizona from Alpine to Clifton. Probably my top twisty road.

    First Bike?

My third or fourth bike was a '73 H2 that I bought new and over the next 2 years had the living **** scared out of me many times. Brutal bike on full throttle.

We moved here full time in early June last year and saw many days over a buck. Shade is your friend, taking it easy is compulsory, and liquids, some with water, is critical.

Room is booked and we are trying to make it work. Yes, we are loving Sahuarita and not a single look back at Portland with the weather there for the past 3 months. Working on a little ride plan for mid Feb to run over to Key West for a couple of days and back.

Don't give me that "old" ****. I rode 4 corners, Portland, OR to Hyder, AK to Peggy's Cove, NS to Key West to San Diego, and back to Portland after my 70th birthday. Solo. 72 days, 17,727 miles. Check 50-60-70 Big Ride on Facebook for daily pics and blog. Old, phffftt.

    Cannonball Run 2016

We were in Cortez, CO when they came thru this fall. A cool, wet and windy day and as they arrived in a gas station next to our campground, we welcomed and cheered them in. What a great experience, just seeing about 40 bikes arrive. I think there were 71 remaining of the 100 starters. I had...

Off road playing in the dirt...

6'2" 200 lbs. rode dirt bikes for about 35 years and preferred weight and balance of the 250cc bikes. Never had an issue with power to climb mountains or trees since I changed the gearing in every dirt bike I ever owned. Dropped a cog on the front sprocket and added 2 on the rear and rarely...
