    Hot ride around Lake Michigan

Sorry to hear about the crazy weather - that's rare up here. We have learned to never complain though --- it can always be worse! Thanks for the ride report and great pictures.

Ride around Lake Michigan - worth it?

If I was wanting to circle L. MI. from KY. - I'd start in Holland on 31 - Grand Haven, Muskegon, Manistee, north of Manistee hop on 22, Empire, Glen Arbor, Leland, Northport, Suttons Bay, Traverse City (great place to stay the night). From Traverse head north on 31 to Elk Rapids, Charlevoix - on...

    2006 Front Rim Needed

No luck finding a rim. Buying one off eBay would be too risky, though there are none to be had right now. The local Yamaha dealer owes me a favor so perhaps he will sell me one at cost.

Ride around Lake Michigan - worth it?

I rode from Mackinac City to Cross Village a few days ago along the lake on 119. The pavement was in terrible shape with large sections of broken blacktop and dirt/gravel sections. After enduring that stretch of "road" I chose to head east rather than continue south through the "Tunnel of Trees".

    2006 Front Rim Needed

It has a pretty good size bend in it. Next winter I'll send it off to get repaired. Anyone know what dealer cost is for a new one?

Ride around Lake Michigan - worth it?

I've lived and ridden motorcycles in N. MI for 35 years and know that NW corner of the state well. My preferred riding destination is Wisconsin, some of the best sport touring roads anywhere. We like taking the ferry across to Manitowoc and make Madison home base. Now, if you were talking...

    Motorcyclist - RIP - ASAP

Trying to market anything printed has not been easy since the Interweb arrived. I regularly spend $10 to $15 for European magazines that are a good value because of content. Trying to succeed in that business by being cheap is a fast track to failure. I remember the original Cycle magazine...

Feels like my FJR is jumping a cog in 2nd gear

Worn dogs on the transmission gear. Yamaha FJ's have been prone to that flaw with 2nd gear since the first FJ1100's. You have to split the cases to repair or just pass by 2nd gear. You'd think they would have figured that out . . .

Hollow axle can be stronger than a solid axle - much stronger with torsional loads.

    Towns named Atlanta

I've been chasing them rally cars driving heavy sweep with my Tacoma for the last four years. I also ride my motorcycles (on/off road) up here where are so many great roads - if you know where to look. Many ways to access Atlanta, MI. that will impress the most seasoned rider.
