I’ll start disassembly of plastics tomorrow after work. Once I’ve done this, I’ll let you know what’s available and take pics for you. I don’t have heated grips on mine, so I’m not sure if the plastic piece will be the same. I would imagine a drill could make it so(?)

With 3 FJRs in the garage I have decided to part out my ‘08. I don’t want to spend much time on this, so let me know what you want/need. The rear subframe is spoken for by my ‘09, and I will probably keep the rear wheel assembly.

Also… I do not inspect my bike often. The hole was probably just the straw that broke the subframes back. It could have been cracked prior and that hole (Which nearly took me down) was just the final hit.

The Givi set up was moved to the ‘18. I’ll post up on the transfer of the subframe when it happens. I will definitely consider reinforcing the frame before installation.

I have my ‘08 sitting in the garage that I have decided to part out. It looks as if the rear subframe is fastened with bolts and not welded, so I should be good. This bike is headed to Texas next week and hopefully Mexico City in October, so a temporary fix was used.

For me, I’m thinking 260k miles is the point of replacing. My ‘05 had 262k and my ‘08 had 265k. Both were fixable, but I had already had replacements in the garage. The average rider will not even consider the bike in question. Give the salesman your contact and let him sit on the bike awhile...

The topcase had only a log book in it. I did not even have the side cases on the bike at the time. I wanted it stripped down so the Traxxion guys wouldn’t be delayed. The hole was huge and I am surprised the rims weren’t affected.

Having cruise

I did the last two rides on the ‘18. It really helped my long distance capabilities. NJ to SF nonstop. I haven’t darksided since the tire came off. I have another that I will be trying on my “Ride around the lower 48” going to try a larger front tire soon too.
