    Front Brake Pad Replacement/Bleed

I just got done replacing my front pads. I had to bleed a bit of fluid out of each side given that the new pads were thicker than the old. I topped up the fluid resevoir (maybe too much?) and proceeded to seat/run-in the new pads. The brakes work fine, but they're definitely spongy and have...

    Brake Pad Shims

Makes sense. Thanks Jeff!! Just looked up the parts numbers. Front shims are not sold separately but as a set with pads. Arrrggh.

    Brake Pad Shims

What role do the shims play? I changed the front tire today and did the front brake pads while everything was torn apart. I noticed that I had shims on one side and not the other (not my first pad replacement--the last one was at Sunnyside). Is it okay to run without shims? I've apparently done...

    Tire Balancing Help!

I'm in the middle of my first tire change. Ugggh. Got the front done and now I'm ready to balance using the Marc Parns kit. I have Galpher rotors on the babe and there appears to be a rubber gasket or cushion at the hub of the rotor carrier. I don't know if this is stock or not. Either way, the...

    Spring Maintenance

My "other" bike has been sleeping quietly all winter while I've been riding the FJR. A buddy told me that I should not start my sleeping bike until AFTER I change the oil. I already changed it as part of my winterizing routine. He said moisture can accumulate in the oil over the winter and it's...

    Bagster Tankbags

Prices are okay. $125 plus $10 S&H for the MINEA. All the bagster bags are much less expensive than the Marsee bags which are my favorite for non-bra-clip type bags. I'll check them out. I bought other stuff from them eons ago. A good experience. Just did a quick check at Bike Johnny. They...

    Portable hookup for Kenwood radios

Ok, no takers on this thread. How about what's the best bike to bike radio setup for use on a rental machine where you don't have an installed autocom or the like?

    Bagster Tankbags

Great pics JDOG... Keep in mind that bagster makes lots of tank bags and NOT all of them are made for their bra clip system. Some are magnetic bags, etc. Lousy pics and size stats are available for their lineup at the website. CIMA Int'l is their US distributor. They stock nothing. It takes...

    Bagster Tankbags

I currently have the city bag (fairly small) and the Medea (large). Neither seem quite right for touring. The Medea is too big. It hits me in the crotch and constricts my handlebars. The city is too small, but is nice for around town as the name suggests. Bagster just released a new smaller...

    Portable hookup for Kenwood radios

I'm planning a european trip in 2008 and would like to bring my kenwood freetalk radios along plus MP3. Any suggestions on portable hookups? I use an autocom for the home bike, but need something I can take to Europe.

    BEST European Tour

Have a riding buddy in Washington State that wants to join me on a European tour of some kind in 2008. Any votes for what is the very best European tour combining all elements of roads, scenery, food, wine, nightlife, etc.? He was looking at Edelweiss' Tour-of-the-Pyrenees...

    Seating position

Has anyone ever compared handlebar adjustment and seating position on an '05 versus an '06? I'm very curious which year/design can be fitted to be the most upright seating position (handlebars furthest back). I'm assuming that each year would be fitted with the most aggressive aftermarket risers...

    Best Synthetic

Amen. I continue to use Mobil One products in my autos. And, I've started using Silkolene Pro 4 Plus products on my bikes (overkill I know). Haven't switched to Syn yet on the beemer--not enough miles yet (2k). FJR is too fun/practical.
