    Name That Place Game

Well - I just went through 33 pages of this thread to make sure that I didn't post this picture before.  What a terrific collection of riding we have compiled here, no?  I will definitely be reviewing this for riding plans in the future. These mountains are NOT where you think mountains should...

    Name That Place Game

So my feeling is that the road is route 66, and if I'm correct, that narrows it down to about 2500 miles :) Edit - Have not been to Cadallac Ranch yet, but apparently this is close.   Hmmm.... Edit again - so it's "The U-Drop Inn" on Rte 66 and I'm intrigued - next ride out west, me thinks...

I have never associated PA with big riding destinations.  That has changed.  Thanks Tom!

    Pros/Cons of the 6th gear?

If you have only 5 speeds on your FJR, then you don't have to deal with the 2nd gear recall.  I'd put that one in the "con" category.

The plight of the insatiable FJR rider: More tires, less work, and more cowbell....

Nada tunnel is on the list too - once again, I've run within 10 miles of there and passed it up completely.

My Nephew Has Been Bitten By The Bug...

Since this thread came up in another topic, I took 15 minutes to run through it and enjoy the memories. Update:  4/14/21 Jacob's 919 Hornet was totaled by the insurance company from that little oopsie previously mentioned.  I talked with him about buying it back, salvage title, etc.  He...

Looking for advice on beginner sport bike

In retrospect, it worked out PRECISELY how I hoped it would.  Jacob still rides today, an RC51 is his weapon of choice, and he also has a Rebel 250 that he putts around on and commutes to work.  He is a terrific rider and I'd go anywhere with him any day.  He's getting married early next year...

    Name That Place Game

Those first pictures did not look like Grandfather Mountain, but looked a LOT like the San Juan Mtns.  Really threw me off.  Of course, I've been (more than twice) to the EXACT location of the last picture, but Duane beat me to it.  The road in the pictures was the ACTUAL road/driveway that...

Then it's got to be the Million Dollar Highway - Colorado 550?  That's the only place I've been that looks like those pictures.

    Name That Place Game

I'm not too good at the internet search thing. I think that is a road in Idaho that they call "The Curves".  I remember seeing that when I was researching a trip up there in 2019.  I think the road starts with an "R" - like "Rowenda" or something like that. (sigh) my memory ain't what it used...

Pants checking in to this thread.  I've been out for a week touring with some buddies in Arkansas.  I see you peeps have been carrying on nicely. Looking forward to learning more!!!

    Name That Place Game

Well - it turns out I have been there.

    Name That Place Game

I don't think I've been there.  It just doesn't ring a bell.  It feels like northwest of Colorado, and that is totally uncharted water for me.

Shoot - I bet it is the Burr Trail.  I've been there, too.

    Name That Place Game

Oh man - I feel like I've been to this place ^^^^^.   Is it Hwy 141 in western Colorado?

    End of an ERA

Warchild - I applaud (and envy) your decision to recognize that the cheese has been moved, and you either adapt or starve.  To deprive yourself of the motorcycling hobby that we all enjoy would be unthinkable, and in that light, you made the wise choice. When I'm at that point, if the only...

The fort and the lighhouse are fairly close to each other, and can be toured in a 1/2 day.  You do have to want to go there, though, as these places are not "on the way" to anything.

    Name That Place Game

Here's somewhere I toured back in my Nighthawk days that was scenic and historical, even though the riding was pretty straight and flat.  What I'm depicting below is technically two places very close to one another.
