    4 wheels and 2 wheels

I'll have to ping you when I am in town next - ask Mark about his ride in the 914 (its in SoCal for a while). Hung on for dear life, he did.

    4 wheels and 2 wheels

I remember when I first got my FJR - the excitement, the farkling, the trips and miles. I did 10K miles my first year with the FJR, a figure I've not come close to this year. That FJR ignited a hunger and it wasn't too long before I added a dirt bike, then a vintage bike, then before I knew it...

    One classic swapped for another

Heard from Metisse that the bike is nearing completion. I have no idea how it takes to ship from UK though - guessing 4-6 weeks? At that pace, I might see it around Xmas....

So, I've been away for a bit. How the heck are ya?

Love this thread, helps me catch up on the regulars. Barb, been super busy the past 2 years with raising 2 boys (ok - Missus Hudson deserves most of the credit), remodels, work and side projects. The good news is that my efforts will pay off handsomely in the coming year, the bad news is that...

Meanwhile, gnomes snuck into Niehart's garage last night and worked their gnome magic on the XR1000. May I present to you:

    One classic swapped for another

Thanks Busta. There's a story behind that, of course. A few months after I got her, I get the Matchless all pretty and proper for the Vintage Motorcycle event on Vashon Island. We were smart enough to trailer the bikes over (my pal had the other mint Matchless scrambler that was the twin of this...

I'm only slightly worried about the exhaust which is basically a straight pipe. Metisse can do a baffled side pipe similar to the image below which still sounds ok, but it looks less clean IMHO.

New to me, 2014 Super Tenere

If you can get George to possibly dirty up his shiny S10, we should do a section of the WABDR next summer. I did a short run of the Idaho BDR this summer and it was wonderful - 80 miles of pretty off-road scenery and 120 miles of super twisty backroads. Well done Panman. Seriously, though...

" " - Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez (also known as "The Rat") You might recall the Matchless Café. Many years ago, Niehart helped me drag it home from a lonely storage locker. A wash, a drink of oil, and three kicks later it gloriously woke from a 30 year nap. It was the offspring...

    carburetor synchronizer...which one?

The best carb syncs tool is the one you borrow, not buy. I own a mint Carbtune. Never used it once because always another available to borrow

    Petey

I just heard about Petey at the PNW tech meet; been a bit busy and not frequenting the forum as much. I think I first met him in 09 in Moscow. Niehart pointed him out and said something to the effect of you wouldnt guess but that old guy can ride the pants off most of the younger bucks. Petey...

    RIP, Tom Petty

I was sad when JJ Cale passed and I hadnt gotten round to seeing him in concert. Petty was fantastic, with a surprise every decade. Wildflowers was truly inspired album. Now hes off my list of greats to see. I was sad about Bowie but really sad about Petty. What a great legacy of music.
