Airhawk or gel pad. Thats the question.

I've had both. Airhawk wins, hands down. Gel gets hot. Then it gets hotter.

    Valve guide material?

Is it a motorcycle specific machine shop, or a car machine shop doing a motorcycle head? Car biased shops tend to think in car needs. Yamaha spent the money on engineering design and analysis to develop guides that they can trust -- they have no desire to repair a head a second time, or lose...

    Castrol Full Synthetic 10-40

I'm not a purist in application -- I figure the best option is to use any good oil, and change it often. But I don't like it when marketing pretends one thing but does another. Chaps my *** when I see what should be half gallon ice cream containers with three pints. The degradation of the term...

    Any favorite front tires?

+1 on the T30. Long (enough) life, doesn't cup the way Pilot Roads always do (for me anyway) good wet and dry traction. Love the feel of new Pilot Roads, but the cupping starts the front end shuddering within a thousand miles.

Tire Machine, Harbor Freight knock-off, Mojo Lever & Blocks, $100 OBO

Yeah, not really. Was seeing if anyone wanted it here first, but will also try Ebay and Craig's list. Thanks though!

    Castrol Full Synthetic 10-40

I like Castrol, and have run it in many a vehicle -- but I'm pretty sure they are the ones that successfully sued to have the term 'synthetic' degraded to marketing, rather than technical formulation.

Ace Cafe Orlando Finally Open (no, really)

After three years of delays and false starts, the Orlando Ace Cafe opened on Friday. Took a run by this afternoon. Pulled a muscle this week, so couldn't climb the stairs to the 2cd floor gallery, so can't report on it yet, but the first floor was mostly still empty, with a promise of a BMW...

    Tire Issue?

What tire? PR4? T30? Different tread patterns tend to different wear patterns. I found the PR4s tended to wear toward the back of the tread blocks, nearly, but not quite, the same as cupping.

Tire Machine, Harbor Freight knock-off, Mojo Lever & Blocks, $100 OBO

I've got a Harbor Freight knock-off tire machine I just don't use anymore -- Bridgestone T-30 sidewalls are just to stiff for my arm, I fear. I say knock-off because it isn't actually from Harbor Freight, having been sourced during the period when HF wasn't selling them a while back. Fitted with...

800 mile rear tire nailed in Maine

Is cheaper necessarily the important factor? Less than $200 for a new T30 mounted, balanced, and with a road hazard warranty from Cycle Gear. I've had plugs both last 5K miles, and spit out in 5 minutes, so no argument from me that a new tire is the best insurance. That said, I can not count...

Fuel injection/throttle issues in hot weather

If you would be so kind, please add a note of what step you take that fixes the problem. Far, far too many searches end up identifying individuals with similar problems, but not too many solutions...

    Orville Dam- The Latest

Bad news. A gallon is 231 cubic inches. 5 gallons, 1155 cubic inches. A cubic foot is 1728 cubic inches. Oh! So the Homer bucket is more than a bit shy of 3/4 of a cubic foot...

    Helmets

More than a few years ago, BMW would give out T-Shirts at dealer open houses and demo days. My second favorite says "Yes, I have a hair stylist. His name is Helmet" I've had Bell (real Bell, not the current Chinese version), Shoei, HJC, KBC, Joe Rocket (HJC with stickers), Scorpion, and a few...

New sponginess + travel to RR brakes

My rear brake suddenly got softer a year or more ago. Took it to the dealer, since it's still under warranty, they charged me a bunch to do a multi-step bleeding. Made no difference. Pedal still softer than original. I have trouble with the idea that a closed hydraulic system suddenly needs...

    Looking for romance in/around Orlando

Stonewood Tavern, corner of Conroy Road and Dr. Phillips. Will be $100 for two, but shouldn't get to $200. Really, really good steak and other. Not too fancy, but fancy enough.

Here you go: https://www.justcarbs.com/parts/o-ring_casting_dohc.html Mike Nixon is the Honda carb guru: https://www.motorcycleproject.com/index.html If these aren't what you need, I'm betting a quick email to him would get you the exact specs you need: [email protected]

    Crunched by a Semi

I bought my '12 from Sky Powersports, and during the 'delivery experience' the service manager couldn't be bothered to put his personal (not shop!) cell phone down to speak to a mere potential customer.

New sponginess + travel to RR brakes

You haven't had a wheel off have you? I've had a similar experience, and with no other point for air to enter the system am wondering if I damaged a caliper seal with dirt or crud during a tire change.

    Synthetic Gear Lube

I've had a dealer do one oil change, and when I provided the high-dollar Yamaha lube, they had very obviously never used it before. Or, I suspect, since...
