    oil filter amazon

I hit the "Report incorrect product information" button, and noted the OEM photo did not match the non-OEM description. That kind of crap should never be tolerated.

Stanley Black and Decker buying Craftsman brand from Sears

Wilton with dark blue paint are chinese junk now too. They still make a couple of good vises, but you get what you pay for.

Stanley Black and Decker buying Craftsman brand from Sears

A lot of Craftsman tools from the 70's and early 80's were made by Stanley, when there was still a Stanley Tool Works in the US. Good stuff, and still many of my favorite tools. Since the 80's though, Craftsman has been changed over bit by bit to Harbor Freight quality Chinese imports. First...

What did your FJR get for Christmas?

New roommate -- 1999 Corvette C5, with 94K miles, and just enough things wrong to find a little 'fix-it' time.

Bad ABS hydraulic unit/module 2007A, per Yamaha dealer

Bad timing on my part, but I've got to note that I've never seen a vacuum bleeder make a brake system better. The optimum answer is to reverse pressure bleed -- which I don't know of a generally available kit. Motive products makes a series of pressure bleeders, and the round universal will seal...

Resolved!: Screwed up big -- trusted the dealer for the first valve check

More importantly, the cookie was good. Pistachio short bread. Mmm.

Anyone using the GenII/GenIII seat from Seat concepts?

I have the SC in grippy, and Sargent in CF. The grippy really, really is. Where you park your butt is where your butt will be. Relocation requires lifting and moving. Not so much sliding. With the CF you can slide around without lifting. Or, sometimes, without meaning to, such as under hard braking.

Resolved!: Screwed up big -- trusted the dealer for the first valve check

O.K., with emotion, but this is the last time: As I noted before, somehow or other I ended up with two sets of valve cover gaskets and O-rings, etc., so I already had all the parts on hand -- and, as I also already noted, that 52" tool box in my garage has a lot of tools. Far too many of them...

Resolved!: Screwed up big -- trusted the dealer for the first valve check

Did a Cookie Run on Saturday, combination empty the 'shock' treatment from the fuel tank and ensure the motor felt good. Fuel mileage was crap at first - which I anticipated since it wasn't true fuel at that point, and getting it out was part of the plan. Next tank had numbers right in line with...

Dec 17th Central Florida RTE Yalaha Bakery

I like 455 O.K., but really like the twin curves on 561 -- but you have to be early to avoid putzing car drivers. Tickled at having my bike back, so will definitely be up for a spin. Leaving my abode around 0830, my BP stop around 0900, and probably at Yalaha around 1030 or 1100. Snack and a cup...

Resolved!: Screwed up big -- trusted the dealer for the first valve check

Life's been good to me so far! I showed up this morning, fully expecting to nurse the bike home, and immediately after I get in the shop's door, the service manager comes straight out of his office, noting he was just about to call me. "Hmm" says me, "something wrong?". Reply is no, the...

Dec 17th Central Florida RTE Yalaha Bakery

So what's your route? Not that it matters much -- doubt I'll be up and running quite that quickly. Decent ride (it is Florida...) can be had from the BP on Colonial at Maguire around Lake Apopka, up Mt. Plymouth, and circling Mt. Dora (often a traffic nightmare at this time of year)...

I already know it won't be running right. My sincere hope is that the cams are off a tooth, and if they are, then my plan is to get a big box of donuts and drop them off at the shop. And if they aren't off a tooth (i.e. I'm full of crap), then perhaps it will be a slightly larger box of donuts...

    Are helmets bulletproof ?

    3/16" thick steel? .1875"? That's a lot more penetration than I would anticipate for a .223

Actually, this is Orlando, and this is just about the best time to ride there can be. Finally cool enough that gear doesn't make you sweat up a storm. If the timing is correct -- and while I really, really hope it's off, I actually think it will be spot on -- then I don't know what the next step...

Resolved!: Screwed up big -- trusted the dealer for the first valve check

Just off the phone with both Yamaha customer service and the dealer. I know others have had good results, but I found customer service to be a complete waste of my time. I had no feeling what-so-ever that the representative rides a bike, much less knows anything about them. He has many of the...

Well no news is... no news. No word from dealer today, and got home too late to call Mother Yamaha.

Resolved!: Screwed up big -- trusted the dealer for the first valve check

Called Mother Yamaha this afternoon. Jenna opened a file for me -- but that's all they can do until Monday. Everyone was out of the office for 'maintenance' of some sort. Took two calls to the dealer to get any information, with the second call to the service manager. He vehemently insists they...

No news today -- was away from communication until after the shop had already closed. Tomorrow will undoubtedly be interesting.
