Counter steering (very useful when you know how)

Bingo. I have been a mlitary instructor for many years and the principles of teaching is there. You must teach to the common denomination in the class and you must have them "do" to understand. Lecturing them does nothing. Simply going on and on about the science of counter-steering is...

2008 FJR1300 - Dear Yamaha, this is what we want.

This is what $7500 will get ya. . . . . . . Check out those cans man, are they the fa-shizzle or what?

    Arm pain

I actually found that comfortable as well. My wrists were at eye level though. Above is a little higher.

    ****Dog and Cats food recall***

I just feed the dog pizza, steriods and whiskey. He is doing well, but complains of a headache and the runs. Thanks for the heads up Alex. My kid gets Iams dry. The .pdf file says only "cuts and gravy" style is affected.

    Russell Day-Long

I have a brand new Russell sitting on me bike right now. I cannot wait for the road cleaning crew to finish. What a stellar group of people as well. No problems what-so-ever. They even called me at home during my build to make sure of something. Two thumbs way up. I have 10 kms on it but it...

    Arm pain

Something else to think about is the position of your brake (and clutch for some) lever. You mentioned right wrist pain. Sit on the bike in the garage on the centrestand and put your hands on the grips. Put your fingers over the brake lever as if you were going to use them. STOP...look at...

    wiped out today.

Owey Ow OW. So sorry you go boom. A definite reminder to myself for the spring riding and temptations with all the sand still on the roads.

    Does the FJR age well?

The 05 seems to be your best bet as as far as price comparison/value etc (if you don't mind the blue). Have a very close look at any of them you consider and ride it first. IMHO. Look for anything the seller may be hiding. My 04 runs like a champ, and the ticky thing...it can happen any time...

    Noise normal or not normal

+1 BTW, A Harley sounds and acts like a farm tractor when you up or downshift. Not knocking them literally (have owned them) but they sound different. Your boss/friend just does not realize the difference with belt and shaft drive maybe. Continue riding and smiling.

    Driving mobile phone users documentary

They probably have no idea why they got the horn, if even they noticed the horn was for them - 2 cents The first post was a very interesting perspective that many do not think about...the repercussions. IBTL if it gets hot in here.

    Temperature Sensor???

IIRC, the fan is small and at the top half of the radiator. Would it be easier to add a small fan near the bottom half with a separate switch you control? One bracket, one fan, some wire, and a switch. That will leave out any mishaps when tinkering with the puter and sensors etc. Just a thought.

A good case for dropping Qatar from the MotoGP & WSBK championships

You are on the right track, but no. Some of those facts are a few years old (2000) and those are thermometer temps. I did forget to mention the 65 C was a WBGT. The temps I saw were collected from a psycrometer. The psycrometer (and a hygrometer as back-up) was placed on the airfield ramp...

A good case for dropping Qatar from the MotoGP & WSBK championships

+1 to that. Never liked any of the hot, humid middle east weather I went through. Saw 65 C (149 F) with super high humidity. It was yucky.

    Screen up = more heat

I very rarely ride with the stock screen up. Only on very cold mornings. I can't see me getting a bigger screen either. I have ridden for many years without a screen at all or a very small one, so I guess I am used to it. It is warmer with the screen up. I find it quite comfy, even at high...

    Tis warm out

Well, supposed to be ~ +6 C all week. The bike is ready to rock. Prior to storage - Lubed, gas treated, battery pulled, oil/filter change and cleaned. Today - Rad fluid changed, spark plugs changed, TBS checked, battery installed, more lube and some cleaning. All I need now is the icey rain...
