Hi all... Now that what passes for spring is sorta/kinda here in the Great White North, it's time for that annual rite of passage: tech day. When? 10 May, from early (8-ish, maybe earlier) until we get done. Where: My place in Calgary. PM for location details if you need 'em We're up for the...

    A Shoulder Rehab Ride

Good to see you're recovering. But as I look out the window at more snow falling, and -10 C temperatures... I think I REALLY hate you! Griff

Canada's Motorcycle is having a Tire Sale

I'm sorta in the same boat as Ray - I do my own changes and usually have a season's worth in the barn ready to go as needed. I've been comparing prices (need new shoes on the KLR) and Canada's Motorcycle has what I want and good prices. Since there aren't local outfits here that will even come...

    Newfoundland in June.

Digby ferry will get you to St John New Brunswick. Which is good... unless you want to go to Newfoundland. You can go North Sydney to Port a Basques (sp?) or Argentia (near(ish)) to St John's. Griff

    Newfoundland in June.

Check out this thread: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/151375-2014-rumours-cfr-on-da-rock/ Lotsa good info, rides, stuff to see etc. June might be iffy weather-wise, which is why we pushed CFR from the usual late-June time slot into August. Griff

2014 Rumours... CFR on 'da rock' ?

I reckon I'll be on the 430AM ferry on either the 12th or the 13th, since I want to get up to L'Anse aux Meadows before the rally (headed to St John's and then Dublin afterwards). Griff

FJR vs Connie Head to Head in RoadRUNNER

I've had a subscription for a few years, and as others have said, I like the touring articles. Read the comparison, and it told me pretty much what I already know: - FJR is (a bit) lighter and fits better if you're short-assed like me - adjustable seat height on the FJR (helps if you're short...

    Alberta roads,Canmore area,Kananaskis country

Highwood Pass on 40 (between Kananaskis Village and Longview was still closed at the end of the fall, not sure when the repairs will be done. I'll check with the Alberta transport folks and shoot you an IM. When you planning on coming through? Griff

2014 Rumours... CFR on 'da rock' ?

Looks like a blast Scotty - You planning on doing the T-lab afterwards? Bringing the KLR? I MIGHT do it before rally... still trying to work out the logistics. Afterwards won't work, unfortunately... Griff

2014 Rumours... CFR on 'da rock' ?

Don (and anyone else who is confuzzled...) : CFR 2014 is "Rally on da Rock", the least organized FJR Rally in the history of FJR Rallies. No registration. No fees. No BS. Just show up, ride, have fun. Enjoy time with friends. That's it. Oh, and have a few pints. Can't forget that. 14-17...

    Tire Change - Old School

I've have a Cycle Hill changer, but before that I did it old-school: a short and a long 2x4 to break the beads (used the rocker panel of the truck to pry against) and 3 regular tire irons I got from Princess Auto (Canada's Harbor Freight). Rear tires for the FJR were (are?) a bit of a pain...

Mother of All Mexico Dirt Bike Rides - March in 2015!

Headed back to Mexico in March with nuestros buenos amigos John and Lynn from RidetheSierra.com. Can't wait. Most fun I've ever had on two wheels was in Mexico... truly a motorcyclist's dream. This looks like an AWESOME trip. I'll be honing the off-road skills on the KLR... as soon as the...

2014 Rumours... CFR on 'da rock' ?

No, I spoke with Paul last year about doing one, but plans had to change. He's a good friend of the folks we did the Mexico tour with. Class act. Since Ireland is more or less civilized, and they sort of speak English, he just loads up the GPS with the best pubs and inns, let's them know you're...

2014 Rumours... CFR on 'da rock' ?

Hotel should be good, nice folks (at least not the phone). We're getting a break on the room rate. No shortage of watering holes in Deer Lake. We'll be ok. Now that Westjet is going to be doing direct flights from St John's to Dublin, I'm thinking I might roll out to da rock, do CFR, park the...
