    Going to the Dark Side

I have been very disappointed with the longevity of my Yokohama AVS Db. After 16600 km the tread in the centre is down to the wear bars. :angry2: It did not even reach the 23171 km my previous PR2 got. OK, it was ridden hard during my OSA trip, but damn, I was hoping for more kilometres...

    Where's your fuze block?

Mine is here: It's velcro'd in place, easy to pop out if you need to work on it. It leaves enough room for the Autocom, a CyclePump and the tool kit. A pair of wires goes underneath/to the side of the tank to the battery on the right. The switched power comes from the rear light wire...

    Going to the Dark Side

It may well be, but in this case that wasn't the case. When I said "CT nominal" I should have said "my CT nominal" as in it was the rider not the bike. There was still plenty of oomph to push it, but I get scared when the weave starts up :o When you hold the speed steady as the weave...

RadioHowie you explain it so well.

    Going to the Dark Side

I went for a 650km ride today. Variable terrain, a bit of everything, some of it out in the sticks, straight, no other traffic around even on this public holiday. There is one thing I can complain about: CT nominal is definitely lower than FJR nominal. I managed to get CT nominal increased by...

    Tank Bra

I use a Bagster. I have no idea where you'll get it in the USA. If I remember correctly, I ordered mine from Baglux. I've had it for three years now and it's been great. My tank still looks like the day it came out of the crate. (Sorry, no look ma, no bra photos  )

Reasons NOT to purchase Power Commander V ?

While considering NOT buying a PC V, what about a MOTTY AFR? I followed this thread way back (and there's also this one), but then it did not seem to come to some definitive conclusion (like many of thses kinds of discussions ;) ). Is UselessPickles (or anyone else that knows the Motty - did...

Show me your dual sports, folks

Here is mine: And for the bonus points... on good dirt: on more gnarly dirt: in water: and on water; :yahoo:

Ignition key doesn,t want to turn

Syncronicity. Mine ('07) started to do the exact same thing yesterday (after I got it back from its 80000 km service from the local Yamaha shop on Friday). I squirted some Q4 in there, and that improved things, but it still is a bit sticky. After some experimentation I've figured out the...

Harley Ride Planner - Anyone use it?

Not sure about that, but to me it's totally useless: "Make sure the points you've chosen are on an existing road, are not located outside the United States or Canada, and are not in an invalid area, such as a body of water." ;)

Corrected that for you Eric. ;) Sure wish I had more of a choice here.

    Going to the Dark Side

Here is my Yokohama AVS dB before and after 10500 km. The only issue so far has been the slight weave at high speed (200+ km/h) mentioned earlier in this thread. I must still up the pressure a bit and go and try it out again.

    The Outermost South Africa 100

I'll try to remember next time :) Actually, I lied when I said we took no photos. Below is one taken by Peter on my cell phone at one of the border posts, so you can see why it's not part of the trip report. Peter's bike was supposed to be in the next picture (again taken with the cell...

    The Outermost South Africa 100

I recently went on a 6900 km ride with my darkside FJR. A trip report can be found over here [Edit: that link does not work any more, try here]. Sorry, no photos, I was otherwise occupied. ;)

    Tag-Along Aux Fuel Tank (joe2lmaker)

OK, kink might not have been the right word, but the right one escapes me now (English not being my mother tongue). Bobble? Whatever. :) Anyway, the only reason I mentioned it is because the fuel line from my aux tank had a similar bobble which, is my theory at this point, caused the flow...

    Tag-Along Aux Fuel Tank (joe2lmaker)

I don't know much about this, other than that I have a gravity feed aux tank with which I have had flow problems from time to time (so SkooterG's posting on the topic earlier was very interesting), but the above picture set off alarm bells in my mind. It seems to me that little kink in the fuel...

    Throttlemeister

I rarely adjust the TM. I set it so that there is just enough friction so that the throttle will not roll back on its own (or very slowly) and leave it like that. :o :D I just do minor adjustments sometimes as the temperature changes. Has been working for me for 8 years and lots of miles.

    Going to the Dark Side

Eish! You guys are sooo lucky. Over here I basically had a choice of 1 tyre, maybe 2 if I was willing to compromise on a symmetric tread, and that one cost $300. :angry2: But then a PR2 costs $230 over here. :(

No Matter How You Feel About the French...

It might have worked, if you can believe this.
