The progress EL has made in the last few hours is astonishing! He's probably thinking "more bonuses"

Well not there. He is still on a 75 mph turnpike :) He can run faster than that. There are, at this time, no obstacles for him, even the weather is decent. He will have to slow to 65 ish through Tulsa, but the new TP round OKC is very fast.

He can squeeze in but he can't stop. Best guess is 30 mins of penalty points. If he runs +8 he saves an hour .. long enough to get gas and get home right on time ... tight. There are no more obstructions on that route, I've ridden it twice recently.

His GPS may be telling him that I-35/I-40 is faster than US 54. There won't be much in it. US 54 is a decent road but the speed limit is 65 for the most part, and there are towns you have to slow down for. The Interstates there run generally 70 to 75 mph

OEM Saddlebags, anyone have a viable alternative?

I find the OEM cases to be high quality, waterproof, good looking and wholly inadequate for rallying and touring. They are a horrible shape and too small inside. I know others vary on this point. I would love to be able to fit a set of "Adventure-style" panniers for those trips. The only reason...

Mike Kneebone just stated that the accident the other day was caused by a hit and run driver on I-395.

Nope. Allen transferred his own Spot to my cradle. He is not on the Public Spot page, and I don't have his private link. I've had a few text messages and all seems to be going well.

    FJR Mileage Milestones

Bike is in the IBR being ridden by someone else. I just put 8500 miles on it doing a 48/10. It has had two oil changes this month and is due another :D

An 18-hour drive .... or thereabouts. There are 20 hours remaining before penalties. If the rider is rested, he'll make it :)

OEM Saddlebags, anyone have a viable alternative?

Most brands of after-market cases could be mounted to the FJR. They would look a bit "different" but might serve you well. None of them are cheap. You would have to take the mounting kit and probably do some fabrication. I believe Givi actually made a mount for the FJR, but I can't be sure...

    FJR Mileage Milestones

I should have posted this. Bike has done well this year. Mileage was 92k on 1st Jan, it just passed this milestone: It will be showing around 108 000 by the end of the week.

It's kinda hard to visualize from that Spot page, but while we are seeing few "suckers", there are some epic rides in progress.

Sitting here just north of Tulsa. The heavens have opened and we are getting Biblical rain and lightning. Those two poor riders near Broken Arrow will be like drowned rats right now.

Y'all need to take it to an OB/GYN. They are used to working in tight spaces.

    Stator cover heat

I wasn't offended .... I was wondering how the stator could be retaining heat, regardless of the type of Regulator. If indeed it is retaining heat 'cos no one has measured it yet :)

Nope, my *** is fine. That was a complete explanation, thank you.
