    Tire beads and TBS sensors

Hi Gitbox, I had exactly the same experience with the beads. Maybe the tire lubricant causes the clumping I don't know. Sometimes I spend up to 30 minutes on one wheel doing a static balance but imo that's a small price to pay for getting it right and I think I get more even tire wear with no...

    Tire beads and TBS sensors

The only reason people like balancing beads is they are cheap and easy. Do they work? NO! I think you would be better off just mounting the tire without any attempt to balance rather than waste any time with beads. If balancing beads work then why, after installing beads, does a tire show...

Rear Fender Mud Flap to Protect Shock and Frame! What?

Must be too early in the AM but what does NEPRT mean? God, I must be bored.

I give, how do you remove the fairing side panels on the 2013?

Then there is what seems to be a problem with Yamaha dealers that don't know diddly about an FJR and I can see why as in they just don't sell many. Would be interesting how many body panel fasteners end up in the old circular file at a dealer after working on one of these beasts.

I give, how do you remove the fairing side panels on the 2013?

I helped my 85 year old neighbor replace his left side panel after a drop on his new 2015. Well, actually it was kind of me doing it which is understandable given the circumstances. I mean I'm only a youngster (73). It was then I decided a gen3 is not in the cards for me. I thought my 2010...

Here Comes the Boom- Unforgiving Suspension 2014A

For tire pressure I like 42F/44R and get great tire mileage with no front tire cupping at all. I should say that's what I do on my beemer and now the FJR. Should work as well on the FJR, I hope. Always do my own tire changes and no I don't use balancing beads.

What mods have been done to your FJR.

That's a good idea Fred! Would cut down on back pressure? When I bought my '10 FJR last June and rode the 900 miles from Kalispell, MT back home on the OR coast I noticed how bad the buffeting was with the Yamaha touring windshield when I got into the Columbia River gorge about 60 miles east...

    engine stalling

I don't know if this is off topic but when I got my 2010 FJR last summer I had a time remembering to fully downshift into first when coming to a stop. The FJR motor is so smooth compared to what I was used to I would just forget to downshift. Got myself re-programed now but it was difficult at...

Resolved!: Screwed up big -- trusted the dealer for the first valve check

Well, most of the time threads strip going in but not out unless blue loctite is used on assembly and the bolt is not heated hot enough to boil spit before attempting to unscrew in some cases. Oilhead driveshaft disassembly comes to mind.

It must be too early in the morning. I should have been referring to the oil pan drain bolt NOT the oil filter, duhhhh...

Resolved!: Screwed up big -- trusted the dealer for the first valve check

This air gun screw up reminds me of what happened at a Ford dealer who shall remain nameless 5 years ago when I took my '11 Mustang GT/CS in for an oil change. The mechanic apparently used an impact wrench set for wheel lugs to install the oil filter. Then the ***** somehow dumped a quart of...

Man, I am glad this turned out the way it did! If I were you I wouldn't hesitate to return to this dealer again. I think you can trust them.

    2015 new $10250 OTD!

And then there's winter. The beeg sky might be cheap for mc registration but they make up for it with their auto registration big time! Bet I know why you live at Bozeman and not Livingston.

    Beyond Frustration--Mirror Mount Bracket Snapped

Evening John, I stand corrected. Rubik it is. Hey, don't blame me just because my wife can't spell. Man I hope she doesn't see this post or I'm in deep......

Resolved!: Screwed up big -- trusted the dealer for the first valve check

Afternoon Red, This begs the question: What are you going to do now? What is a "shock" treatment? let me guess, a bottle of Techron and call it good?

If the TB sync was too far out to adjust at idle with the TB air bleed screws I bet this ***** dealer wouldn't hesitate to adjust the TB stop screws.

Resolved!: Screwed up big -- trusted the dealer for the first valve check

Removing the tupperware before visiting a dealer isn't a bad idea and definitely something to consider. As far as independent shops go if it was an ATV that might work but not for an FJR. The local yamaha dealer told me that if I brought my bike in they would be bound to do the work required...

Resolved!: Screwed up big -- trusted the dealer for the first valve check

I don't for one second doubt the shop blew it. That is one thing I really don't like about the FJR. For any work like valve check/adjust you can easily be SOL if you aren't capable or just don't want to do the work yourself for whatever reason. I don't know what I would do if something came...
