I would first jump the starter solenoid/relay, and if the engine turns over.

I also have the same setup. I sanded down the G2 some, to get rid of the sharp knurling. It does seem that the throttle side could be warmer.

Buy the table lift, and park one of the bikes on it if you need the space.

On the other hand. Yamaha will have a hard time claiming operator error, when (or if) it starts jumping out of 2nd gear.
