Lookin to buy a BIGGER shoe

You'll like the Avons. They wear well and grip nice. As for a 190, why. All rears will square off over time. That extra 10 bucks won't buy you many miles. Also, if you're after a bit of that 'bad *** from the rear' look, get a fender eliminator and a hugger. makes the FJR look amazing. Just...

All '08 Owners Out There! I Need '08 Windshield Advise!

IMHO if it's not made out of glass you have to be very careful when you clean it. Paper towels and tissue paper is made from sawdust. Use soft terry cloths like the ones they sell 20 for $5 at Walmart. When you get in from a ride spray the windshield with a mix of distilled water and car wash...

    Arai Mechanism

Update: The sucker came on Saturday. I ordered it on Thursday afternoon. Wasn't expecting it 'til Monday but it turns out they use FedEx Home Delivery which ships Tuesday through Saturday. Factory fresh, packed with love from Japan. MotoNeko, I bookmarked it. Man, that new Arai smell! I have to...

Long Oval Head? Try a Shark RSI! My mini helmet war:

The release for the shield is one of the best in the business. Just push a button. the Shark line got great reviews everywhere. Anybody wear a Fulmer? My North side Yamaha dealer stocks them along with Suomy.

07 AE bought new...am on third ignition????

Very sorry about your problem. These things can really test your mettle. If you're on the third one and it's working properly you may want to create an insurance policy on it by bolstering the solder points. There's plenty on doing this in the pined posts at the top of mechanical problems. The...

    Arai Mechanism

Yea, like I said it's easier to get the shield off with the helmet on. I did it like a pro my first time. I guess the scariest part is putting it back on. If you see how that works in there you can get the right action. I just purchased a Quantum 2 Grey Frost Lg. at MotoNeko in MD. $400 shipped...

FJR "Consumables" to have on hand?

I don't ever loose the 4mm body bolts. It's the thin nylon washers that go between them and painted surfaces. Other than those I think you've got it covered. You know, whatever you have you won't need so you should be trouble free for a long time. With this in mind you should go ahead and pick...

    Arai Mechanism

I went back in to see the Quantum again. It's definitely easiest to remove the shield with the helmet on. I didn't feel confident enough to try to put it back on with it on my head with a helmet I don't own. I'm sold. The fit is tremendous. My EXO-700 is very comfortable but that's just because...

    Arai Mechanism

I'm shopping helmets and since Arai was the first serious helmet I'd ever owned back in '85 I thought I'd give them a good try. At first I looked away from the Arai line because of the higher price and the pain-in-the-*** shield changes (having owned an Arai back in '85 you didn't have to...

Little to Complain About, But Still ...

Might as well forget the ********, it's done. Now, how bad are each of those scuffs? can you get them out? Can you erase it? Body shops have great techniques for fixing them. Hope you get it back the way it was! Whenever I park for any more than a few minutes I cover it. Where ever you are...

Test ride results: FJR1300A vs Concours 14

Excellent write-up. On the clutch, if you're 5'6" you may have the clutch lever adjusted closer to the bar. The closer you adjust it, the less 'disengage travel' you get. I've never tried it but if you set it at the closest setting, will it disengage at all? If you're not fully releasing the...

    Significant Throttle Sticking

I'm starting to feel the same thing on mine. ('03 29k). The cables, both accel and return run and run. I wouldn't look for them to be stuck. Sounds like build-up of crap at the butterflies. I know I need to get in there and clean.
