Cheap Chinese Radiator - Waste of time

Great Post.... My rad is in shape good now (had it straightened) but I had seen those replacements on Ebay etc.. they look so perfect in the pictures... but now we know. Sometimes OEM is just the best way to go despite the extra up-front cost! Thanks for confirming. I'll be interested to see...

    KrZy8 - Crap, radiator leaking

dcarver, I suppose any local radiator shop can fix yours; FJR rads aluminum? I don't recall now. However, I've used these guys a few times with good results: https://www.motorcycleradiators.com/ (out in West Jordon, UT). My FJR rad was slightly bent so I had it straightened, cleaned...

MRA Vario screen. Anyone using one?

I just installed an MRA on my V-Stream shield (bolt-on) but I haven't actually taken it for a ride yet this weekend. I'm tall and I'm attempting to get just a little more wind over my helmet. I agree with Tango Sierra on this.. I like to see just over the shield but will adjust it as needed...

Final Drive Swap: 6th gear solution?

I look forward to your assessment, Dudeckp! Nearly 1 year later, I've got about 5400 Miles on my FD gear swap with no issues... I'm reminded of this ratio change every time I ride it. And yes, I've got a Speedo-Healer installed so my rpms reflect the change (~3000 at 60 mph). I did install...

Synchronization of throttle bodys on 2013 FJR

There is a recent discussion on this over in the Technical/Mechanical section: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/162355-2013-fjr-1300-synchronizing-throttle-bodies/ The #3 TB should/could be your std/reference for the others and may have a dash of white paint on the adjustment...

    Bar risers or no?

Same here.... Helibar (up and back) on '05 (Gen 1). They came with the bike and I've never done anything with them except leave them in place as-is. They put the grips in a very natural spot for me and I'm ridiculously tall with long arms. It made my old Honda ST1100 stock bars feel almost...

Final Drive Swap: 6th gear solution?

For me, I'd say little or no change. 99% of my riding is commuting, 16 miles each way and about 10 miles of that is freeway. That's two cold starts each day and I'm still getting a consistent 40 mpg each tank, slightly better in warmer weather and using only Regular gas. I haven't taken any...

Final Drive Swap: 6th gear solution?

Hey! My old thread still has a little life....!! I exchanged my FD with RMS for the re-geared unit just to reduce my out-of-pocket cost. AND, there are always a bunch of FD units on Flea-bay if I ever wanted to go back to the original gears. My re-geared '05 is still doing great and have no...

Best source to buy FJR parts?

I've used www.partzilla.com for just about all of my FJR OEM parts needs (and my ST1100 as well) over the past several years. I believe this is part of boats.net which was already mentioned. Mr. BR '05 FJR

    2015 Kawasaki Concours 14 Review

MCRIDER007, Do you feel the C14's 6th gear is too tall? I've read the various reviews over the years and have seen more than once that roll-on does suffer a little and 5th is really needed for quick passing. I'm ok with that as I'll trade roll-on for fewer revs most of the time (my '05 FJR...

    Batten down the hatches!

yup, I knew it was going to be work-from-home today....I've been watching the Wx reports all week (fav site is www.noaa.gov) I'm down in South San Jose and it has been @#$!#! hammering rain and wind for most of the morning. CA needs every drop! Mr. BR

    Motoport visit

I’ve got a pair of Motoport Ultra II Kevlar pants that I purchased in Jan. ’04. The pants are all black with Knee and outer thigh armor and I did not buy the waterproof liner. At the time, they cost me $299 plus a $49 Alteration fee for the 38” inseam. Prior to that I just wore jeans because...

How much is gas where you live?

Just filled up at the local 76 station and it was $2.99/Gal. for Regular. It's lower at other stations and some offer a break for cash too. Mr. BR San Jose, CA

    OEM Mufflers: What's inside?

LOL! I hope not.... they only sounds these lumps will be making is when I toss them in the recycle bin! The "trooper" mode was not THAT loud but still more than I liked as I depart for work each day before 7am with kids and neighbors still asleep....so they had to go. My '05 is now sporting a...

    OEM Mufflers: What's inside?

Hey FJR lovers, Since I had no takers for my free OEM Mufflers with the "trooper mod", I decided to cut one of them apart just to see what's inside them before I toss them in the recycle bin. First I had to hit the local Harbor Freight for a pneumatic cut-off tool and some 3" wheels... it...

Clutch Damper and Dots on Friction Plates?

That "damper" is very common on the inside of clutch covers... I'm pretty sure it's simply a noise dampener... Mr. BR

    Midwest Tour in books

Nice RR... I think I've been to your site before....probably linked from the ST site. I just sold my ST1100 a few wks ago after 5 good years with it and I've had my '05 FJR since Jan. I still read the ST-Owners forum but spend most of my time here. Regards, Mr. BR

    Cam Chain Help Needed

Is this with the Cam Chain Tensioner (CCT) fully retracted? If yes, take a flashlight and closely inspect the bottom sprocket to ensure the chain is engaged normally. It's very easy to miss! Mr. BR

    Cam Chain Help Needed

I went through this on my '05 a few months ago and I had to fool with it a while to get the timing correct. I'm not sure what you're looking for on the cam sprockets but I used the punch marks on both cams (@ #4 cyl.) and aligned them with right facing arrows on the cam bearing caps on both...
