ECU flash for smoothness in 09 FJR?

@BanjoBoy: Since I'm **cheap** I'll prolly go throttle tube first; but if I go PowerCommander, I recall seeing something about "programmed for smoothness" as being something that has to be . . . programmed . . . is that a "homeowner" type of job, any old laptop can do it, or, best left to...

ECU flash for smoothness in 09 FJR?

@Eagle: Thanks for the thoughts . . . yep while I was at the seemingly only dealer that knows how to bleed the brake system for "1.5 hours of valuable tech time" . . . we decided to put a new battery into it . . . professionally . . . that part should be good. I do agree that often a new...

ECU flash for smoothness in 09 FJR?

@jazsr: Thanks for your time on this, yep, I was looking at the stock torque curve for the FJR on what I think is the "Ivan" site, and it does look like several "trough's" in the torque on the way to 5K that **might** explain what I'm feeling, but doesn't explain the "riding down the road"...

ECU flash for smoothness in 09 FJR?

@RD: Thanks for the thoughts . . . I did see a few of these "TPS" threads on the forum here before posting mine . . . did seem like that was relating to Gen3?? But, it does seem like something is "getting worse" as far as ride-ability goes rather than something that I can "get used to" . . ...

ECU flash for smoothness in 09 FJR?

Winter of my discontent on the Gen2 09er has arrived in force as of a two hour ride last Saturday . . . still have yet to fully "diagnose" the issues, as there are more than one . . . . Bar position is one problem, the PO installed the Heli-bar Tour Performance adapter, which seemingly brings...

    Error Code 14

Later that same day: So, the good news . . . after doing my procedure on the hose R&R and seemingly finding nothing-- I buttoned it back up . . . then went for a 1.5 hr bike ride . . . when I came back I checked the last few fasteners . . . turned the key . . . I think the error code was still...

    Error Code 14

@RK: Indeed, diagnosing problems is hard to do remotely . . . I did take photos, and for the most part everything looks "OK" . . . . I thin' I'm just going to bolt it up and . . . backburner it for now . . . . Don't know how to do "diagnostic mode" operations . . . it's all very technical...

    Error Code 14

Hey gents: 2.5 hours later . . . tank removed . . . I believe I found my way to the sensor, black plastic body attached with two 8mm bolts with a vacuum hose attached to the bottom and the other end of the hose attached to a coupled fitting??? Pulled the hose out, pushed a coat hangar wire...

    Error Code 14

@FJRFlyer: Thanks for that . . . be a few days before I can get to any of it . . . figured a blast of brake cleaner or WD-40 to loosen the innards up . . . I think that taking some care with the implement that gets inserted into a hose might be in order . . . ???

    Error Code 14

@mcatrophy: Thanks for the caveat . . . yep, it's all very technical, no matter how "routine" the job . . . multiple fasteners . . . multiple body parts to remove . . . . Last guy that did the service, or rather the "repair" on the service their "top mechanic" had done, got the "loosen the...

    Error Code 14

Looks like my attempt to reply by email last night was not successful: " @RossK: Thanks for the links . . . main concern is the relative speed of this problem growing quickly into something that requires a tow. I have been "under the hood" on the FJR and watched my mechanic in the process as...

    Error Code 14

@RossKean: Thanks again for the follow-up . . . well, it would take me 20 mins just to think about lifting the tank . . . . : - 0 But, from taking a quick look at the fiche it appears that there is a bend just below the sensor?? which might explain the why of it, why is this goo gathering...

    Error Code 14

@RossK: Alrighty, thanks for that link . . . read through the posts there, didn't check the various links there, but got the gist of it . . . "goo in #12" is causing error code "14" . . . . So far it doesn't seem to be causing too much issue with drive-ability, hard to recall from the ride...

    Error Code 14

Folks: Had this "14" error code on my 09er this morning, or rather on restart from gas station, the bike kind of "zzz----zzz---zzz--urrp----varroomed" to a start . . . and then as I was pulling out onto PCH in sunny Malibu I looked down to see the glaring light, never had seen that light before...

"Stock" handlebars adjustable v Storz adapter?

@FTL900: Thanks for the post . . . I tried to do the same thing this morning, but it's one of those, "For want of a 2.5mm hex key . . ." deals . . . not supplied in the official "tool bag" either . . . . So, good to know that going to get one would have been a waste of time . . . . In a...

"Stock" handlebars adjustable v Storz adapter?

@FTL900: Thanks for the photo, from what you are showing here, perhaps I have another "notch" to go backwards on with my Heli contraption. I can see yours clearly showing "Helibars" on your device, but on mine I thought that the back edge of the handlebar "flange" was already hanging over the...

"Stock" handlebars adjustable v Storz adapter?

    @FTL900, etc: Could those "tubes" be transferred from FZ1 over to the FJR . . . bolt-on . . . easy-peasy??

"Stock" handlebars adjustable v Storz adapter?

@FTL900: Thanks for the follow-up . . . You mentioned the FZ1, not sure if that bike comes with handlebar or "clip-on" style? A couple days back I was wondering whether other bikes that Yammie makes, like the twin 1200 "GS killer" whatever the name is, if that bike has a handlebar as "stock"...

"Stock" handlebars adjustable v Storz adapter?

@FTL900: Thanks kindly for the post, that looks pretty good, can't remember if that item was posted here before, but it does look good and then I've always wanted a **centre stand** for my bike . . . looks like I could finally ticked that off of my bucket list, get rid of the OEM CS. I think...

"Stock" handlebars adjustable v Storz adapter?

@Cherryriver: Appreciate the post and the real life experience; hard to know the "why" of how things work or don't work, not sure if adding rotation adjust would actually increase vibration . . . but based upon the switch from the Konk ali bars to steel, that change did take out a significant...
