Putting off the first service to 1200 miles

IMHO I would recommend changing the oil at 600 miles at a dealer because any warranty work will be done by a local dealer vs. D&H. Don't give them a chance to try to "void" the warranty which is not really legal but it can lead to problems no one wants to deal with.

    Brake roters

When bolts or studs are heated to loosen Loctite you can apply a wax candle to any exposed threads and the melted wax will wick in along the threads and help in the removal of the fastener. This was a recommendation from a Loctite representative during a product seminar. I've tried it and it...

How to change a buddy`s mind to buy an FJR

I rode both the '09 FJR and an '09 Concours 14 ABS before buying the FJR. I liked the fit and finish of the Yamaha better then the Kawasaki and 1400 was not that much more powerful than the 1300. My previous bike was a '99 Concours 10 which I had since new with no issues. Did not like the single...

Coolant - What is considered normal usage?

If you are getting antifreeze into the oil it will make a brownish "foam" (looks kind of like a chocolate milkshake) inside the engine. Remove your oil filler cap and look at the bottom of the cap and run your finger or a clean rag along the inside of the engine case and check for contamination...

Comparison of my 06 FJR to my '10 Concours

Before buying my '09 FJR I rode the '09 C14 ABS. The motor had a little more low end but when the cam timing adjustment backed off it was a typical Kawasaki motor they rev to make power. I rode a C-10 for ten years if you wanted more get up and go increase the RPM's. The fit and finish on the...

How do you use your FJR?

I bought my FJR in Mid-August have been commuting to work pretty much daily until the second week of December (snow and ice) it's 10 miles one way. Did find myself taking the long way home at times. The bike is large and heavy in a parking lot but very managable once you get moving. I came off...

    new member 2006 fjr AE

Welcome from Connecticut. Air filters I use K&N in everything I own, two or four wheeled just clean and reoil them every 50,000 miles. I'm still under warranty so I will use OEM oil filters for now, however you can look in the new members "bin of facts" for recomendations on tires and...

    Question on 2004 FJR

Congratulations and welcome. Not sure how long you have been riding but be carefull the jump from V-30 Magna to an FJR is huge (weight and horsepower). Take it easy while getting used to the new ride, you will love it.

    Surrounded by *******!

I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask this question I rode last week two mornings when the temps were 27 and 25 and my bike was "reluctant" to downshift (2000 miles) but Thursday it was almost 70 (took a half day off from work and took a 100 mile ride) and the bike was back to normal...
