Another year, another CA trip planning

Made it out and back without issues! A short ride report forthcoming. Because of the heat I opted to skip the fun rides :( Which only means I need to get back out there for them!

Another year, another CA trip planning

Made it safely Monday morning at 1:30am. LA traffic after 10p is kinda fun :) Side note: anyone know where I can get a Shoei clear face shield locally? Amazon says it'll be delivered on Thursday/Friday, but that isn't inspiring confidence. Scratched mine pretty bad Saturday night so I ran...

North to Alaska 2019 - Once there were Twenty now there are SIX

I'd treat it more like the IBR. Except we set the start and end points for each day. Everyone figures out their pace, rides with others. You get to the daily end point when you get there. I like the idea of meeting in NW Montana. That's the "rally" starting point. Everyone get there and we'll...

I'm trying to route home along Angeles Crest Highway on Google Maps and no matter what I do with it, I can't go east to Wrightwood. Is it still closed? Is there a website I could check? The CalTrans site says no trucks.... My friend's plans have changed so they won't be there the entirety of...

Another year, another CA trip planning

Chain tensioner replaced. Coolant flush completed. Brake fluid change completed. Oil Change done. Rear Diff fluid changed. Accessory power wiring cleaned up. (not changed, replaced a wire that was too short, verified grounds) On to route planning... New mid-point is Durango, CO instead of...

    Here I Go Again...

Watched your spot cruise past my house and wondered where you would "land" for the night. DSM is a good spot. The boring scenery of NE and western IA should give way to more trees, curves and hills in eastern IA. Ride safe!

Lessons Learned on changing the CCT

I had the ty-wrap/ziptie as tight as I could get it by hand. I did not remove it until I had all three bolts tight on the tensioner. I was turning the wheel, against the compression, but I did not hear any metal clanking. I may remove spark plugs, because I should inspect them anyway, and make...

Lessons Learned on changing the CCT

So I just completed this and I'm standing at the bike with it in 5th gear. Wheel spins, but I can't see the chain well. What am I looking for if I didn't have the ty-wrap tight enough? I really don't think it skipped during the change, but I'd like some guidance before I put everything back...

    The 1911s do YFO

Awesome ride report! I can't believe you were 20 miles from me in Blair, NE :) Wha-bon-see is the state park in IA. Great little park that's typically quiet.

    Here I Go Again...

Ride safe! Yes, get to Mt Evans. Great trek up that mountain and great picture opportunities. RMNP is worth the trip, for sure. Be prepared for lots of tourists. Can't wait for the ride report!

Ok. While I do want a second ride in the garage, maybe this isn't the trip to go out and get one for. Thanks for the insight! Getting to Alaska will be enough of an adventure!

I'll follow-up my "interested" comment with this; Should I take the tried & true FJR or will this be the reason I add a KLR or zuki 650 to my collection??? If I add, oh the farkles I'll need to consider.. :)

CCT replacement parts ordered. Re-reading most of the forum and came across a few people changing theirs out. Not sure how mine has survived this long, but I don't want it dying on the trip. The weather here has been "swampasshot" so I haven't been motivated to get in the garage and get the...

They moved to Marina del Rey; which I expected. I like this idea. Of course the "fastest" route is to take 80/76/70/15, but I'd rather not ride through Vegas. So I think I'm going to take 80, to HWY83, HWY40, HWY287, HWY 350 to I-25 down to I-70. Adds a lot more miles but...probably better...

Gen II Rostra Cruise Control Install

I'm contemplating a cruise purchase. The MCcruise is pricey, but seems everyone who's purchased it loves it. I like that it comes as a kit. Did you order this as a kit from somewhere? If so, could you provide a link? If not, could you please detail what you purchased please?

So, leave at 6am Sunday and take that Highway? Route home is starting to take shape! Thank you!
