I'm having the very same problem on my 2006 with only 15K miles on it. I removed my shock today and found there is a small shaft inside the one you see the adjuster thread up and down. I found this when I screwed the adjuster all the way down away from the top of the shock and then slid the top...

I have 11K miles on my 06 and I found the exact same problem. I looks as thought the gasket is built into the thermostat so you have to buy a thermostat instead of a $2 gasket. I tried to tighten the old one but it was already pretty tight, didn't help. I just hope the new thermostat last longer...

I had my local dealer check the vin # before I bought it. He told me the main sw & has not been complied with and a service bulletin for air pressure or mixture I think he said maybe that's the ECU ur talking about. Thanks for the feedback
