    What are buttons for?

Isn't that the starter button you're pointing at? It is in the US.

    Anyone use tank bags?

I just put stuff straight into the tank with a string tied to it. Then I pull it out when I need it.

BrakeAway Throttle lock and heated grips??

The OP is the Original Poster, the guy who started the thread. He started it 8 months ago and never responded. We don't know if he ever followed up on this.

BrakeAway Throttle lock and heated grips??

Nothing from the OP in 8 months. I wonder if he did anything.

    Going to See the Eclipse?

SacramentoMike said: "All you need to do is google "2024 eclipse" and dozens of hits will show you the whole path, starting from Mexico, then curving from Texas to Buffalo, eastern Canada and out to sea. April 8, 2024." Here is a link to an interactive eclipse map. I'm going to a big AirBnB...

    Won't start in gear

    Now that IS crazy talk.

    Won't start in gear

I suppose the ultimate solution would be to just buy a new motorcycle.

    Won't start in gear

I agree. The contacts aren't carrying a lot of current and are unlikely to burn or corrode. I also thought disassembling a switch unit to service it would be overkill. If I ever removed it I would replace it rather than perform surgery on it.

    Won't start in gear

Mine is a 2008 so it's the correct part for it. Thanks.

    Won't start in gear

There are a few threads in which this problem appears but I found it difficult to search I think because of the wording. The symptom is the bike will only start in neutral. Trying to start in any gear with the side stand up and clutch lever depressed does nothing. No click, no turnover, just...

Parts For Sale Gen 2 Windshields

I'm convinced. Consider it sold. I'll bring cash out to you maybe Tuesday or Wednesday (no rain). Are you available during the day? May I install it at your place so I can try it out on the ride home? It'll be good to see you again. I still remember trying out your V-Stream before I bought one.

Parts For Sale Gen 2 Windshields

Harald- I believe the V-Stream is polycarbonate and the Cee Bailey is acrylic. Is that correct? I have had V-Streams on both my FJRs and prefer the indestructibilty of the polycarbonate. But for $100 and a ride out to PA I'm tempted by the CB+4+4. I've always wanted to try the barn door. If...

    Excessive fuel consumptuon

Of course the solution to this is to just stop using fuel.

Old battery tender, weak charging system, or inferior battery?

It was a fluke. I rode today on an errand 60 minutes each direction. I had the heated grips on full. The panel meter is clearly wired after the ignition switch and apparently it's behind the heated grips as well because turning on the grips drops the panel meter by 0.8V. When I returned I...

Old battery tender, weak charging system, or inferior battery?

Maybe this was some kind of fluke. Today I measured the battery voltage with a DVM directly to be 13.3V. The panel meter indicated 12.8V. I started it 4 times in rapid succession and watched both meters dip below 11V. On the 4th try I had to start WOT so I let it burn fuel for a while and...

Old battery tender, weak charging system, or inferior battery?

If you think I am soliciting your opinion on whether I should use a battery tender of any kind or under any condition or if you think I am seeking your advice on what kind of battery I should have or when I should replace it, you have misread the thread title and should just hit the back button...

    flashing red ABS light

Yes you are. But here is a photo of the connector and roughly it's position in front of the battery compartment that ScooterG posted. And here is a YouTube video posted by Two Wheeled Obsession giving the whole run down.

    ABS rear brakes engaging

Do you have new boots with bigger, stiffer toes? I just adjusted my shift lever position to accommodate bigger toes on some new boots. It could interfere with the brake pedal also. Did you ever take the brake pedal off? It can be installed in a number of positions and if it's up too high, your...
