    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Smokin' a 12-pound turkey in a Weber. Started it at 9:00AM. I'm about ready to check the temp after 4 hours. It's hard to keep the temperature down in a Weber. My wife claims that I've never made a dried out turkey. We're old enough that our memories aren't what they used to be. Fortunately it...

2007 waits until water pump failure doesn't create a disaster

Which epoxy did you use? JB Weld did OK for me with hot water at 70psig on a water heater. Granted, the temperature was probably under 130F.

2007 waits until water pump failure doesn't create a disaster

Glad you made it home. That barb looks like it's corroded below the surface of the water pump cover. Are you certain that it's just pressed in? I appreciate the challenge of manufacturing a new barb and pressing it in but I think you would first have to bore out the pump cover to clean out the...

What did you do to your FJR today?

On Friday I allowed my FJR to deliver me to Brando's BBQ in Edison, WA, for a delicious brisket sandwich, potato salad, and a butterscotch root beer (don't knock it if you haven't tried it). I rode 2-1/2 hours each way in sunny, 46-to-52-degree weather. I saw no wet leaves or frost on the road...

More RPM vs speedo but different...maybe

A lot of us here have been in our twenties several times but still like flashy lights, especially those bright enough to read by. For me, at least, when the phone rings while I'm listening to music and navigation instructions it just annoys me. I was in my twenties three times before I became a...

    E15 / Unleaded 88 in 2008 FJR1300

Found it. It's p 3-13, 3-14 in the Operation and Controls section of the 2006 Owner's manual. Not in the Specifications section. Not in the 2006-2007 service manual at all as far as I can tell.

    E15 / Unleaded 88 in 2008 FJR1300

That's odd. In my 2006 owner's manual and my 2006-2007 service manual the only entry I see is "unleaded fuel only" with no reference to minimum octane rating or maximum ethanol content. Where was that entry in your owner's manual and for which year?

    Windscreen shimming

I have not heard of anyone shimming a windscreen to a more upright position. There have been several, including myself, that have shimmed them to less upright positions. For me it was moderately and only qualitatively successful. It's a very quick and easy experiment to do with a stack of washers.

    NinWelly (XiTomer) throttle lock

But I'm not a rocket scientist. I'm a nuclear physicist. I ordered an eBay version. There is a piece in the photo I don't recognize. It will have instructions or I'll just figure it out.

    NinWelly (XiTomer) throttle lock

Chuck, Russ- Thanks for the responses. I agree that it looks like a Kaoko, maybe it even works the same way. But I was looking for experience with one (I found no reviews online) or assembly instructions (I found none online). Maybe the NinWelly is a relatively new product. They're cheap on...

    NinWelly (XiTomer) throttle lock

Has any one used one of these NinWelly throttle locks? They're bar-end throttle locks. You can find them on Amazon or eBay but you can't find assembly instructions or reviews. I can't find an FJR ThrottleMeister and wondered if these would behave similarly.

    Yamaha FJR Pannier Loose Solution

You could duct tape them on but that would reduce the FJR's top speed to 80mph.

    Drone in Follow-Me-Mode

In general they go to seedy bars or strip joints.

What is this, and where does it go?

It's a thermal imaging endoscope. You know where it goes.

What did you do to your FJR today?

I machined a handful of those brass clutch lever bushings a few years ago. I installed and lubed one when I first picked up the 2008 bike a year ago. I'll get around to the brake and clutch fluid soon now that the weather is turning to dark, cold, and rainy. The T6 in 15W-40 is what's in stock...

What did you do to your FJR today?

Removed, cleaned, and lubed rear brake pedal pivot shaft. New tires, Bridgestone Battlax Sport Touring T32 front (120/70ZR-17 GT) and rear (180/55ZR-17 GT). Rebuilt forks, new bushings, seals, Honda 5W fork oil. Replaced rear brake pads with new OEM pads. Changed oil, Rotella T6 15w40 full-synth...

    Heated grips.

I took my Grip Puppies off today and rode 60 mph in 45 fahrenheit temperature for a couple of hours with the heated grips on and the remaining four hours at less than 52 fahrenheit. It made an incredible difference. When I came home the Grip Puppies went straight into the trash.

    Heated grips.

I have the Grip Puppies. They're fat and comfy but in my opinion they really don't allow enough heat transfer from the OEM heated grips. I'm thinking about removing them and after trying that maybe replacing them with something that transfers heat better.

    Shopping for Seats

Do you know any other riders in your area? These seats are interchangeable. Maybe you can borrow one. I once loaned my Russell day-long to someone all day at one of the Rueben Runs. I was stuck with a stock saddle for a day. That was a painful experience. But they got to try a custom saddle. I...

    03 Won't Start

This is unclear. First you say the bike won't turn over, which sounds like a weak or failed battery. Then you say the motor spends (spins?) but won't start. That sounds like flooding. Have you tried starting it with the throttle wide open (WOT)?
