    My 2006 has been named

mine is slammerkin 2. Slammerkin - used in old english, i.e. 1700's England, to mean a woman with a bad reputation, slatternly woman, now a days - ****. Often called that when maintenance work proves harder than anticipated.

    Dropped her again :(

[ I would agree with both you guys actually. I'll be doing a 3 day trip with a small group of friends next weekend and I worry about using it on soft surfaces and was actually considering bringing along a small piece of metal or plank for anytime I need to park on grass or something. The wide...

    newest buzz on Avon's

What do they suck?? :yahoo: PS Used Azzaro's on my old Concours ZG1000 - loved them. Used Storm's on the FJR - loved the tire, not the wear rate - 9000 km ouch. PR 2's on now, waiting for spring to put some miles on them. I too would like some reviews of actual use of the Ultra's.

    Rider Protection for newer rider

It's why racing leathers are skin tight. The 'stitch 1 piece "owner's manual" recommends long sleeves and pants. Not to stop welding to wearer, but to stop the abrading by the suit twisting. While I admit disobeying this rule, for sure very mild abrasion vs skin on road. A guy I know, wiped out...

    FJR service tools

Put centre stand on a 3/4" thick board to make easier to get wheels out from under the fenders.

    1st Tire I Didn't Change Myself

I have changed my tires myself last 2 times. 1st at a friends house who was showing me. 2nd time this fall put on pair of PR2. Get some kind of "rim slip" like Ru-glide at Napa - $20 Canadian for a gallon, enough to last rest of my life. You need 3 tire irons the kind with a little lip on the...

    Going to the Dark Side

Beside the answer to my inquiry see below, it is illegal to put a CT on a motorcycle in Ontario. If a sharp eyed police officer or insurance adjuster spots a CT on your bike, it could prove really expensive. From: Rennie, Brian Sent: Wednesday, September 09, 2009 5:15 PM To...

    Brake roters

When changing my tires, I tried to take off the disks and the bolts wouldn't budge. I rounded out the allen socket in two bolt heads and stopped before more damage. I think they are lock tited. How do you get them off. How to get the wrecked bolts out. I ended up leaving them on and using a 2x4...

    so new to the FJR

Which out for the frickin side stand - don't ask. It can look like it's down but not be fully down the bike will topple. Make sure you kick it as far forward every time. <_<

    Proper riding gear

I use a 1 pce 'stitch all the time. I wash it once per year whether it needs it or not, using Nik wash for gortex fabric and Nik wax treatment. The material is water proof, the zippers could leak, if you're annal you can seal the seams but I don't bother. I have been in heavy rain for over an...

Tire markings on a Pilot Road 2B

Thanks for the pics. Answers my question. I think Michelin tire selection web page could be improved - it recommend both 'B' and regular PR2 for the feej. When I click on more info under each I get the exact same message, no discussion of the differences/enhancements between them. :glare:

    How to change brake pads

Before pushing pistons in to accommodate new pad installation, is it OK to spray the pistons with brake cleaner to avoid pushing some of the splooge on the pistion into the caliper seals? Does the cleaner affect the seals?

    Reading Michelin Tire markings

Where on the sidewall do I look for the "B"

    Reading Michelin Tire markings

I have a set of PR2 ready to mount and have seen discussion here about B tires for the FJR. In the rectangular imprint on the side wall where it mentions max load and PSI stuff, there is a B. Can't see a B anywhere else. Do I have the B or regular?

    Throttle Stuck...

With all the throttle spring unwinding reported on this forum, just wondering what happens warranty wise etc. if a dealer notices it was done, esp. with a stuck throttle reported.

    Problems with Pilot Road 2's?

I have Storms on now. Loved the azzaros and these too. But don't like the Storms wear. At 7,500 km (approx 4,500 miles) rear is almost on the TWI's front still looks good. When new tread depth as measured by me on rear was 6 1/2 mm and now is 1 1/2 mm so I assume TWI is at 1 mm. Front tread...

    Concours 14 vs. Yamaha FJR1300A

I'm an ex Concours 10 owner. I sat on a C14 tester at a rally and turned down Kawasaki's offer to ride it. It is taller than FJR and felt wider 'tween my knees - I have only 28" inseam so it's an issue. I could only touch both sides on ballet like tip toes and I could hardly get it off the side...
