    Yamaha Comfort Seat

When I swapped the stock seat for the Yamaha comfort seat I, like others, noticed the profile is a little different and it is noticeably more comfortable. It still doesn't prevent a sore butt after a few hundred miles but is better than stock. It's also nicer looking with the exposed stitching...

    AIS- Oily mess

Start with crankcase ventilation. Pressure buildup in the crankcase could push things in the wrong direction. Usually that's past a seal but, in your case could be showing up as oil in the intake runners. Making sure it's hooked up correctly and working is where I'd start. Second, I would...

    AIS- Oily mess

There a thousands of Yamaha FJR1300s out running around with a lot more miles than that and do not have an oily mess problem like that. There must be some highly unusual condition for an FJR engine to look like that. Neglected maintenance, clogged crankcase ventilation or a PAIR system failure...

    Check Engine Light

A CEL is only triggered by engine sensors. Not headlights, not a windshield motor and not a headlight assembly. If you ran the engine with the O2 sensor disconnected, that would set a code. If it's a "hard" code ie: the problem is still a problem as seen by the ECU, the light will remain lit. If...

Difficulty starting with a warm engine

While the battery and/or starter are the most likely culprits, something else to look at are the connections between the battery and the starter and between the battery and ground. Loose or corroded connections there can have the same symptoms.

    Garauld Accessory Catalog Showcase

I appreciate your "input" RossKean. The reason I asked is because of the weight. I routinely carry a 60lb dry bag on the back of the bike (equipped with a Garauld Stiffy kit) on long trips but a significant portion of that weight is on the pillion seat. I would not subject a dog to the stuff...

    Garauld Accessory Catalog Showcase

Have you ever given any thought to building a dog carrier for the rear of a Gen III? I've been wanting to bring my dog with me on trips but haven't found anything that would accommodate a 50lb pooch.

    FJR1300 Speedometer

On my 2016 the procedure is to hold the display selector "trigger" for 2 seconds. That'll put the display in the setup menu mode. Use the rocker switch to move the highlight down to the "BRIGHTNESS" setting and tap the "trigger" switch to select. You can then move the arrow up or down as...

    An Excel Valve Clearance Spreadsheet

Too bad there isn't a way to save the spreadsheet without subscribing to DropBox. It could come in handy but, I'm not entering financial information for a service I almost never use.

    Physics of Cornering...and Recovering

There's no one right answer that covers every situation. I think the most important thing to keep in mind is not to panic. If you're over cooking a curve, remain calm, get you weight further into the turn and don't make any drastic changes to the throttle application or brakes. A bike...
