    Harley Davidson Mistake

Several years back for a period of about 16 years I worked part time for a Harley dealership. I think one of the most egregious screw ups I saw was the new Sportster they sold, sadly to someone I knew, that was missing the base gasket for the rear cylinder. Major oil leak inside of the first 50...

Some Lighthouse in RI and CT

Nice pics! Last year my g/f and I did the IBA Lighthouse Challenge but never made it that far north. We took the Amtrak auto train to Florida to start and rode south to Key West then came up the Atlantic coast for the first leg of the trip. In 5 months we visited and photographed 66 lighthouses.

FJRForum Official 2023 Iron Butt Rally Tracking/Analysis Thread

The Void Rally, when it was run, was often referred to as a spider type rally. You chose one of 3 starting cities but all 3 finished in the same location. Starting cities when I participated were always somewhere in eastern PA. somewhere in north central GA, and somewhere in western TN so those...

I rode in a few of those shorter, 32 hour events, like the Mason Dixon 20-20 and the Void rallies. The rally masters in those events were constantly on the lookout for future bonus locations keeping spreadsheets of GPS coordinates and pictures for use at some point and sharing them with each other.

FJRForum Official 2023 Iron Butt Rally Tracking/Analysis Thread

I saw Chris Comly's FB post this morning. Photo he posted looks like the front sprocket in the primary case suffered catastrophic failure ventilating the primary case. Massive oil loss. I know Chris and that Sporty is in its 4th or 5th IBR and has about 350k miles on it. He actually just got it...

Lisa Rufo/Molly Hecker are out of the rally and will be heading home. Bike is totaled, front end is largely gone. Both are in good spirits, all things considered, and relatively unharmed in spite of Bambi's attempted murder. Lisa posted a few pics of the bike to Facebook. Attributes her minimal...

FJRForum Official 2023 Iron Butt Rally Tracking/Analysis Thread

Just read in the daily report about Lisa Rufo/Molly Hecker team hit a deer this morning around Dekalb, IL. Been chatting with Lisa and they're okay. Molly wasn't hurt, Lisa has some road rash on her right pinky finger. Lisa tells me she'll need a new helmet, face shield is toast. I'm just...

I was thinking about riding back out for the finish but once I looked at the cut off time I'm not so sure. If I chose to be there I'd have to ride out Thursday night and get a room nearby in order to be at the Marriot at a decent time. Scoring opens at 5:00 or 5:30 I think and after 8:00 riders...

    GEN2 stumble during takeoff

If you decide you do need a TPS, I have a brand new one still in packaging I bought for my '07 but never installed. That bike is since gone and the part can't be returned. Let me know if interested. I'd cut a deal on selling it.

Rear shock adjustment - are you kidding me?!!

I was fortunate enough to stumble across a used Penske rear shock so that's what I now have on. Friend of mine has a HyperPro on his is he's pleased with it if you're looking for a lower priced alternative.

    Broken part confirmation

You can fix it temporarily with JB Weld but I would expect to replace the stay at a later time. PITA but not really all that hard to swap out.

Parts Wanted FOUND! 2007 (Gen 2) stock (or lift) rear suspension dogbones wanted (possible trade straight up for lowering dogbones)

I have a set. When I did the relay arm service for my 2007 I ended up buying a relay arm off eBay and it came with the dog bones. Set I have is my old take offs which I took to work, sandblasted to clean them up and then painted them with Rustoleum so they'd look nicer and they've been sitting...
