Planing a MN North Shore ride

I am no stranger to high mile days. Last year I didn't get any "fun" riding in, it was 8000 for work, commuting, and, a funeral. This year I want to change that. I am really not in the position for overnights yet with young kids, but I could probably talk my wife into letting me escape for...

    2006 vs 2008 FJR1300

The color deal is kind of funny.... I seems I have a unnatural tendency toward gray/silver vehicles. My whips went a something like this. (none of this was deliberate) 1986 Nissan Hard body: Gray 1994 Dodge Caravan: Gray 2002 Dodge Stratus R/T Silver 2006.5 Chevy 2500: Silver 2006...

Am I Spoiled by the FJR?

The Victory mill is actually a single overhead cam with hydraulic lifters, making the thing very low maintenance. Oil changes, tires, and the occasional drive belt is about all that's needed to keep a Victory on the road. The Victory engine also has a dedicated oil cooling loop to keep the hot...

    WTB Mirror Extenders/wideners

Fantastic! I will consider this an option as well. May likely be a more cost effective solution. Typically takeoffs can be found for cheap.

I have three kids in daycare, my Farkle budget is tight so new is out of the question. I do appreciate the link.

    Most HATED Farkle or Accessory

You guys make me glad I bought the Throttlemeister. I have ready an equal number of positive and negative reviews, I even bought the heavy ones. I guess time will tell, I had the excel throttle lock on my Tenere, it was a love/hate relationship. The coefficient of expansion of the heated...

    Minneapolis Motorcycle Show 2/7

It's just going to me my oldest and I. I am going to try to be there by 10 or so. I would be be interested in seeing the VFR1200X. My last several bikes have been twins. I think I am done with twins for a while... I have have always had a soft spot for more cylinders.

    Minneapolis Motorcycle Show 2/7

Anyone going to the show on the 7th? I am thinking about going and taking my oldest (2 year old). May bring the whole clan if I can talk my wife into going.

Mounting Givi top case using SR357 *and* Garauld Stiffy Kit?

I have taken a good look at the extra support bracket the Givi has. I think it will help truss up the top case but the main load bearing member remains the FJR sub frame. Will it be as good as the Stiffy? I guess only time will tell, but given the general weakness of the sub frame, any extra...

Mounting Givi top case using SR357 *and* Garauld Stiffy Kit?

I just did this tonight. My 2010 came with the Givi and mounting plate already installed. You have to remove the mounting plate to install the Stiffy, so Stiffy first. The mounting plate is solid but it doesn't do the job of the Stiffy which is to reinforce the subframe by distributing the...

    2007 FJR1300A 20,500miles $6750

Don't do it... Just don't. When my first kid was born I sold my Victory Vision, keeping the Super Tenere I had at the time. I sold the Vision because it was "too big" for my daily commute, which was 15 miles through the Seattle's worst traffic. To this day I regret making that decision. I...

    Oxford Heated grip controller mounting.

Don't be too Jealous, we moved from Seattle. I now have real winter to deal with, and the riding isn't as good, neither is the scuba diving. The Camping is ok, the housing is affordable, and the public schools are better, the traffic isn't bad... It's a trade off.

    Oxford Heated grip controller mounting.

I was dinking around in the shop last night, I had picked up a ram ball for the clutch level mirror mount socket, I think I will mount the controller there using my college of ram mount stuff from my last three bikes. The GPS will be mounted to the triple tree clamp when the ram balls for those...

    Oxford Heated grip controller mounting.

I do have the MCL triple Tree top clamp that is drilled and tapped for Ram Balls, I may utilize one of those to mount the controller. Interestingly it is a similar size as the stock controller. I wish the wire exited the back of the controller, and I would just mount in place of the Yamaha...

    Oxford Heated grip controller mounting.

I am getting ready to install the oxford heated grips on my 010 FJR, I am not thrilled with the mounting bracket and location it came with. I have google the crap out of this topic and little has shown up. Where did you all who have oxford grips put the controller?

Gen II Accessory Wiring for grips and gps

Thanks for the fantastic information!! I am still waiting for my service manual, so I am trying to get by as is. My bike does not have the yamaha heated grips. I picked up the Oxford adventure grips. I never understood the low amperage rating of the Yamaha 12v port. Ok for GPS, and a cell...
