    2014 FJR1300ES For Me!

Here's one of the great things about this particular situation: I get to get a whole new set of farkles, taking into account what I learned first time around. For instance - one of the first things I need is a RoadRunner-built fuse panel bracket for under the rear seat. I like gadgets and...

    2014 FJR1300ES For Me!

Yeah, no red for Canada. The non-ES version is a med metallic brown, close to red but still not red. The 2014 Black i believe is very close to the 2009 metallic black and I've always liked how the '09 looked. I think I'll happy with the black, but as was said, it's what's inside that counts. ian

    2014 FJR1300ES For Me!

Well since I'm coming off a 2009 FJR, which I totally love riding, I believe I'll love the 2014 just as much ... Thanks for all the kind words folks! I'll make sure to post up some pics ... ian

    I did it.

You can add my congratulations to the others, from another GenIII owner (picking my 2014 up on Saturday). ian

    2014 FJR1300ES For Me!

Yes I am very lucky - Louise actually started us riding in 2004. We've been on a number of multi-day trips together and commutes to work now on her 09 VStrom 1000 a fair number of days as well. I have a pretty good relationship with the sales guy and allowances have to be made for the weather...

    2014 FJR1300ES For Me!

Well, pulled the trigger on the new FJR today. Put the deposit down on a new-in-crate 2014 ES. I'll be picking it up on Saturday and trailering her to her new home! There will be 4-5 months of sitting on her every once in a while making vroom vroom sounds until the ice age here in Calgary...

    The 2014 FJR1300 - Woo-hoo!

In Canada the black model with the adjustable suspension is known (on the Canadian website) as the FJR1300E. I just checked again and the Canadian E model has electronically adjustable suspension and a good old fashioned clutch and the venerable 5 speed tranny. So no clutch-less paddle...

    The 2014 FJR1300 - Woo-hoo!

Put a deposit down on a black 2014 ES here in Calgary at WaltHealey. I've bought a number of bikes there so I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a great price as usual. Not sure when it'll get here, might be before the end of the year, but realistically there's only about another month of decent...

    Question about farkle wiring

On my 09 FJR, I have a switched Centech fuse panel under the rear seat that all the electrical goodies plug into. I also have a weatherproof marine 12v socket on the right dash that's directly connected to the battery under the panel below. I mostly use this connection for charging my Sena and...

    2013 or 2014?

Since my wife has pretty much confirmed that she's going to be taking possession of my 09 at the end of this season (a good thing by the way, it's not like part of any divorce settlement!), I've been starting to work out the details of ordering a 2014 from my local dealer. All he knows from the...

    Calgary Tech Day?

Excellent day Griff! Good to hang out again, too bad about Jeff's bike, yummy chili, cold coke, lots of wrenching. Good times ... Thanks Griff Ian

On my way - should be there by 10am! Ian

    Calgary Tech Day?

Thanks to an email from Griff, I'm planning to be there May 4th. My wife Louise may also be showing up at some point on her VStrom - she has a couple of things going on early that day. I'll save up my spark plug change for then, and maybe some little things - might have the Sena SR10 thing by...

    aerostich guy;s

I have a two-piece RC and like a few others have said, it's a great suit. I have to admit that I got the 2-piece because at the time, I felt that it looked less dorky than the one piece. But over the years I have appreciated the ability to take off the jacket and leave the pants on so as not to...

    Hand Guard Protection

I've got VStrom handguards on mine and they've worked great. The mounting is a bit flimsy, especially the right side, but I figure some washers will solve that. I think I paid $40 or $50 for the set new and so if they break it's not a big deal to get another set. My VStrom and for sure my...

CB antenna mounting with top case

Last year I mounted a VHF/UHF antenna to the back of my FJR for my Amateur radio. My dad and I mounted a piece of aluminum angle to an aluminum square tubing on the license plate mount. The square tubing spaces the angle part out far enough to clear to the pannier and the angle part is long...

    Best Rain Gear

+1 on Aerostich I've had RoadCrafter 2-piece since 2008 and it's all I wear on long trips, whatever the weather. It's been in pounding rain, with absolutely no leaks ever. I've never had a problem with the heat, I just zip down the front and get some air moving in. I do have as well and my...
