    Fuse Blocks

I have the same setup as LAF. I ran the wiring down the outside of of the underseat pan and on to the handlebars for the power and stuff, and to the battery. I have the relay connected to the license plate light. I use a Centech on the FJR, but have an Eastern Beaver for the VStrom. Ian

    F@#%ing Weather

Yeah well, it's supposed to snow/rain here in Calgary this afternoon, so the crappy weather is being spread around. :angry2: Ian

How old is you 'Stitch/Other gear?

I bought my 2 piece 'Stich in early 2008 and since then it's the suit I go to the most. I've had some Joe Rocket gear that I bought before the 'Stich, but they just never felt as comfortable. I've washed it once, had the wrist zippers replaced last year, but other than that it's done me through...

The "FJR is my main ride" thread

Since getting my first bike in '05 (a Suzuki Burgman 650), I've generally ridden the bike if I had to go anywhere. Working at home for the last few years until this past summer meant no commute - only trips to meetings and such. Changing jobs to where I had to go to the office everyday meant a...

    BC Roads worth trying

The road between Kaslo and New Denver, just north of Castlegar is a must-ride, especially this year since the a near washout has been fixed. Last year between two trips I traversed that road 4 times! Highway 31 from the Balfour Ferry on Kootenay Lake north to Kaslo and then north to Marblehead...

Who has gone camping on an FJR?

My wife and I have gone camping a few times now. It'd be really tough to do riding 2-up without a trailer (or a support truck), but with spreading the gear out across 2 bikes it works fine. The last trip was this past August when Louise and I did a 4000km trip through the PNW. We camped just...

    Shurberth C3 owners

I've had a C3 since the beginning of the riding season here (Calgary) and I would absolutely buy another one. It's quiet, got a built visor, pin lock, and it's light. Well worth the money to me. The catch is that the internal shape of the helmet is not very forgiving if your head isn't the...

Mounting a GPS (or whatever) on an FJR

I too, noticed that threaded hole, but since I had already mounted my Zumo 550 to the Techmount bolted to the forward tank mount bolts, I got similar Ram parts and mounted my Spot Messenger there. Fo looking at one of the pictures posted above, someone else did the same thing. Ian

    Givi top box

I have the E52 on my 09 and I haven't noticed any adverse effects in any riding configuration. I pretty much leave it on all the time - when commuting around town, my 'stich just fits inside. As others have said, any case will eventually seem too small, so you might as well get the biggest. Ian

    Calgary Alberta Shakedown Ride

Hey Trev, you should come to the FJR Tech Day tomorrow ar FJRguy's place. There's a post somewhere here on it and Jeff can email you the address to his place. Ian

    Helmets

I wanted my new helmet to be as farkled as my FJR - pin lock visor, integrated sun visor, multi-path ventilation, aerodynamics tested in a wind tunnel for super quiet noise abatement and flip front. So when the new Schuberth C3 became available here in Canada, I started lusting after it. After...

My accessories are killin' me!. Recommendations ?

I just got a pair of Alpinestars WebGoreTex touring boots last month. IIRC I paid $300. Since there was almost constant snow here around Calgary this spring, I wore them around the house making vroom-vroom sounds to keep from going fully insane. :dribble: So I managed to get them broken in...

My Wife Upgrades to a V-Strom

Hopefully this time everyone can see the pics of my wife's new V-Strom!! Apparently MobileMe does some funky things with URLs and access - I can see all the pics here on my laptop. But on any other computer - no images from the MobileMe Gallery are visible. So, here's attempt number three...

My Wife Upgrades to a V-Strom

Well the pics were there in the preview! I have witnesses! Here's another try at the pics ... The ^&%^&$^^*)*()_ snow has ALREADY got to us. If it snows one more freaking time here, we might take you up on that Barb! ian

My Wife Upgrades to a V-Strom

Like FJR-RemingtonRider's wife in this post, my wife Louise too decided she needed a horsepower upgrade. Why that thread resonated with me was the fact that like the Remington's wife, my wife also wanted RED - the Burgman was red, and her helmet is red. Unlike Mrs. Remington, Louise did have...

    I have been bitten too

I have an 09 and I installed the Brodie harness in late September. While it's easy to argue that Yamaha should be doing something to mitigate the chances of being bitten, the $100 or so and a couple of hours of time, is well worth it to make sure you don't get bitten by the spider. While it may...

    Anyone buying an iPad 2?

In anser to the OP's question, my answer is YES, I'll be upgrading from my 16GB/3G iPad1 to a new 16GB/3G iPad 2 as soon as I can after March 25 (I'm in Canada) and so will my wife! I'm 99% sure that I have my old one sold. I have a MacBookPro from work, on iMac on my desk in my home office and...

    WFO10 - CANCELLED!

My wife and I are pretty much set to come, she'll be on her VStrom 1000, but I'm thinking that'll be ok. Any word on the website yet? Ian
